Charles Donald Fritz, 62, of Sweet Home, died Aug. 13, 2009 at Corvallis Manor.
He was born Oct. 25, 1946 in Brewton, Ala., the son of John and Mary Jo (Coxwell) Fritz.
He grew up in Sweet Home. He entered the Army in 1964 and was stationed in Alaska before serving a tour of duty in Vietnam.
He re-enlisted in the Army in 1969 and served a second tour of duty, receiving a Purple Heart and Bronze Medal.
Mr. Fritz was honorably discharged from the Army in 1972 and moved to Corvallis. He worked at Smurfit Industries for 29 years until retiring.
He enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed attending reunions for Vietnam veterans.
Mr. Fritz is survived by his brother, David Fritz of Lebanon; sisters Elaine Seals of Sweet Home and Susan Fritz of Springfield; nephews Andrew, Tyson, Matthew, and Chris; and four nieces.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Dana Fritz; sister Debra, who died in infancy; and his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
