Charles James “Jim” Hoover, 76, died Aug. 30, 2010 in Aumsville.
He was born May 11, 1934 in Castle Rock, Wash. He was raised in Sweet Home, then lived many years in Mill City and Gates, and the last five years in Aumsville.
He owned and operated Hoover’s Supply and Forester Equipment in Mill City for many years. He was a machinist, mechanic, and an inventor with several patents.
Mr. Hoover was married to Shirley Cutsforth and they had four children. He then later married Diane Quinlan, who preceded him in death.
He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and traveling. He was a lifetime member of the Elks and the NRA and attended Stayton United Methodist Church.
Mr. Hoover is survived by companion Margie Fagan of Aumsville; son and daughter-in-law Don and Cathy Hoover of Gates; daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Keith Williamson of Tempe, Ariz. and Elaine and Tim Fritz of Lebanon; step-daughter Kim Burkhart of Colbert, Wash.; sister Geneva Jacobson of Prine-ville; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra; and one sister, Iris.
A memorial service was held Sept. 4 at Stayton United Methodist Church. Private interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Gates.
