Obituary: Curtis Williams

April 21, 1945 – April 1, 2016

Curtis Paul Williams, 70, of Sweet Home died of lung cancer April 1, 2016 in Albany.

He was born April 21, 1945 in Waterloo, Iowa to Paul Kenneth and Maris (Hainey) Williams.

He moved to West Covina, Calif. in 1955 and graduated from Edgewood High School, where he excelled in art and journalism. He received his AA degree from Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif. and attended the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, Calif.

Mr. WIlliams was inducted into the United States Army in 1966 and was stationed at Ford Ord, Calif. and Heidelberg, DEU. He was discharged in 1969.

He accepted a job at Hartford Insurance in 1970, which began his career in insurance adjusting for more than 25 years.

Mr. Williams married Lynne Rose Ashley in Claremont, Calif. in 1966 and the couple had two children together, Jeffery Curtis and Russell Dean Williams. He was a loving father and grandfather.

He was an active man who loved playing the banjo, hiking, camping, woodworking, and building/repairing banjos. His family and friends will always remember him as a loving, kind, generous man with a good sense of humor.

Mr. Williams is survived by sons Jeffery Williams and daughter-in-law Kaysone, and Russell Williams; and a grandson, all of Alta Loma, Calif.; sister Sheryl Reynolds of Laguna Nigel, Calif.; and nephew Roland Reynolds and his wife Elizabeth of Los Angeles, Calif.

A Celebration of Life is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Sunshine Industries Unlimited, Inc., 1333 Clark Mill Road, in Sweet Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Sunshine Industries Unlimited, Inc., 1333 Clark Mill Road, Sweet Home, OR 97386.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
