Obituary: Ruth McCullough

Ruth Evelyn Henson McCullough, 89, of Sweet Home died peacefully March 31, 2010 after a full and loving life.

She was born April 8, 1920 in Warren, Ohio to Dean and Clara Minerva (Camp) Hayes.

She was a mother, wife, Scout leader, hiker, hunter, Army nurse, veterinary assistant, artist, world traveler, and writer. She leaves a legacy of appreciation for the outdoors, service to others, hunger for adventure, devotion to honesty and outspokenness.

She had three children, Charlotte Henson, Dean Henson and Molly Harrington, and helped raise six others, Petie Witter, Katie Knostman, Weezer Leonhardt, Colleen Marr, Bill Henson Jr., and James Hennessy. She leaves seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her three husbands, Bill Henson, Frank McCullough and Bill McCullough.

A memorial service was held April 3 at the United Methodist Church in Sweet Home.
