Obituary: Timothy Carter

Timothy Wade Carter, 50, of Astoria died Aug. 23, 2010 at Providence Seaside Hospital.

He was born Oct. 25, 1959 in Lebanon to Delbert E. and Joan M. (Hess) Carter.

He attended schools in the Sweet Home area and graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1977. Mr. Carter met and dated his future wife, Deborah Ann Volkers, while in high school. They married Oct. 27, 1979.

His work took them to Warrenton in 1998. He was a licensed electrician and maintenance superintendent for Weyerhaeuser. Mr. Carter worked 32 years in mills and enjoyed working.

He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, golfing, casinos and was a skilled trumpet player and drummer. He had a beautiful singing voice. Prior to his death he had just restored a 1967 Chevy II. He also had a black belt in taekwando, receiving many acknowledgments and trophies in that sport.

He enjoyed family time and loved his grandchildren, the light of his life.

Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Deborah; daughter Amanda D. and husband Chris Oseguera of Warrenton; son Matthew Carter of Astoria; father Delbert of McCook, Neb.; mother Joan of Prineville; sisters Cindy Dodson, of Mortan, Wash. and Cheri Hansen of Redmond; brother, Todd Carter of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Douglas Eugene Carter.

Services were held Aug. 27 at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Sweet Home.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
