Former Sweet Home resident William D. “Bill” Walker, 82, of Montrose, Colo., died May 12, 2010.
He was born April 25, 1928 to Thomas V. and Rita J. (Chambers) Walker in Sligo, Mo. At a young age, his family moved to Oregon, and Mr. Walker grew up in the logging industry. In the late 1960s, he moved to the Cortez and Dolores, Colo. area. In 1974 he relocated to Montrose, Colo., where he made his home until his time of death.
Mr. Walker enjoyed the outdoors and the mountains. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his sons, Steve and daughter-in-law Judy Walker of Cortez, Mike and and daughter-in-law Vicki Walker, Kelly and daughter-in-law Bobbi Walker, and Ed and daughter-in-law Sandy Walker, all of Montrose; two brothers, Bob and Melvin Walker, both of Oregon; and two sisters, Cile Loux and Louise “Poodie” Maxwell of Oregon; seven grandchildren; and nine great-granchildren.
Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jean, and second wife, Pauline; brother Tom “Toad” Walker; and his sister, Artie Wodtli.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 20, at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 21, at Olathe Cemetery.
