Obituary:Allen Rickman

Allen Otto Rickman, 88, of Sweet Home died at his home early on the morning of Nov. 29, 2009.

He was born Feb. 19, 1921 in Portland to Otto John and Germaine Augustine (Rialland) Rickman.

Mr. Rickman served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945. While enlisted he received the EAME Ribbon with six Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal.

He grew up in Milwaukie and moved to Sweet Home in 1952. He spent his lifetime working as a farmer. He enjoyed working with metal and created yard birds and other projects on his farm.

He never married and is survived by his nieces, Bonnie Rickman of Sweet Home, Carol and husband Roger Conroy of Milwaukie and Debbie and husband Joe Hodges of Corvallis; nephews Steve Rickman of Sweet Home and Neil of Portland; sister-in-law Patricia Rickman of Sweet Home; eight great-nieces and nephews; and nine great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Daryl Rickman of Portland in 2007.

Contributions in his name may be made to East Linn Museum.

A Celebration of Life to remember him will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at his home of 57 years.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
