Obituary:Melvin Miner

Melvin William Miner, 90, of Sweet Home died March 30, 2010. He was born June 3, 1919 in Halsey to Ira Atwood and Julia Esther (Sides) Miner.

He lived most of his life in Sweet Home. He played high school baseball and was on the boxing team. He married Wanda Coulter on Aug. 17, 1940.

Mr. Miner was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also had a big garden. He coached Little League and loved watching local kids sports. He loved his family and friends

He is survived by his wife Wanda of Sweet Home; sons Randy and daughter-in-law Jeanne Miner, and Larry and daughter-in-law Jamie Miner; daughters Janice and son-in-law John Powell, and Lisa and son-in-law Danny McCubbins; son-in-law Bill Orr; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Mr. Miner was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Orr; siblings Albert, Kenneth, Wallace, Amos and Fred Miner and Alta Wright.

Services were held April 3 at Sweet Home Evangelical Church. Memorial contributions can be made in his name to Evergreen Samaritan Hospice.
