Obituary:Patricia Mealue

Patricia Ann Mealue, 71, died peacefully in her home on Oct. 22, 2009.

The youngest of eight children, she was born May 21, 1938 in Colville, Wash. to Oscar and June (Birdsall) Peasley.

She married Wayne Thomas Mealue on September 20, 1957 in Couer d’Alene, Idaho and they made their home in Sweet Home where they raised their four children.

A member of Sweet Home Assembly of God for 47 years, Mrs. Mealue’s strong faith was the foundation of her life. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, taking road trips with her husband, cooking, and the Oregon Coast. Her grandchildren brought her great joy and she treasured her time with them.

She attended Linn Benton Community college and worked various jobs in addition to being a dedicated wife and mother. Her secretarial skills were utilized at Linn Benton Community College, the Lumber-Sawmill Union, and Sweet Home Assembly of God church. She was also employed by the Sweet Home School District where her love for cooking was put into use as a baker.

Mrs. Mealue is survived by her husband Wayne Thomas Mealue of Sweet Home; sisters Carol Martinez of Spokane, Wash., and Betty Paullus of Couer d’Alene; brothers Don Peasley of Couer d’Alene and Fred Peasley of Phoenix, Ariz., sons Ben and daughter-in-law Christina Mealue of Salem, and Marty and daughter-in-law Rima Mealue of Sweet Home; daughters Debbie Mealue of Richmond, Va., and Sue and son-in-law Dan Helland of Richmond, Va., six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mealue was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and June Peasley, and brothers Ted Peasley, Bud Peasley and Gary Peasley.

A celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Sweet Home Assembly of God church, 890 Mountain View Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice 1046 Sixth Ave. SW, Albany, OR 97321 in memory of Patricia Mealue.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
