With the filing period for the Nov. 8 City Council election scheduled to close Tuesday this week, eight candidates had filed as of Monday.
The candidates are Susan Coleman, Lisa Gourley, Theresa Howard, Lisa Pye, incumbent Dave Trask, incumbent Diane Gerson, incumbent James Goble and Andrew Allen.
Both Goble and Gerson have been appointed to the council within the last several months to fill seats vacated by members who resigned for various reasons.
Four council terms are set to expire on Dec. 31, including those held by Trask, Goble and Mayor Jim Gourley and Gerson.
Jim Gourley will not run again after serving 24 years on the council. Lisa Gourley is married to Jim Gourley.
The four candidates receiving the most votes in the November election win. The fourth-place candidate serves a two-year term while the top three will serve four-year terms.
Winners begin serving in January.
