Orchids are strange houseplants, but they’re easy to grow and their blooms last weeks or even months.
“At least some of them are,” Vivian Chelstad, a Sweet Home orchid grower, said. The phalaenopsis are among the easiest to grow. They also are called moth orchids or phals (pronounced fails).
Other relatively easy-to-grow orchids are paphiopedilum, often called “ladyslippers,” and cattleyas, called catts for short.
