Owen “Oly” Aanrud, 78, of Springfield died Thursday. He was born to Lewis and Ovedia (Johnson) Aanrud in Emmons, Minn.
Owen married Elaine Dahl in 1951, in Minnesota. He came to Oregon in 1952. Owen worked 39 years for Seneca Saw Mill in Eugene. He remained in Springfield after his wife died in 1986 until just recently when health reasons brought him to Sweet Home. Owen was a lifetime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Eugene. He spent time traveling to Mexico and Alaska. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading.
Owen is survived by son, Richard Aanrud and wife, Christine, of Eugene; daughter, Ronna Brown and husband, Brian, of Sweet Home; sisters, Margaret Schmitt, Karen McCrae and Nona McDonald; brothers, Roland and Dale Aanrud; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by Richard Aanrud, Delores Schmitt and Victoria Aanrud.
A service was held Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Eugene.
Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel will be handling the arrangements.
