The New Era
Doing anything the Saturday after Thanksgiving?
Local organizers of Sweet Home’s Christmas celebration in Clover Park need some help installing this year’s display on Nov. 25.
A primary need is electrical work, which must be done by a licensed electrician, to string lines in a ditch to provide power to the tree and other lights.
Organizer Molly Laycock said last year they used extension cords, but that was not a good situation.
“They kept getting stolen,” she said.
This year city maintenance workers will dig a ditch that will allow a permanent power supply to be installed. She said an electrician has submitted a bid for the job, but funding isn’t available yet.
Also, help is needed to put lights on the tree and other decorations in the park, she said.
This year’s tree lighting will be Nov. 30.
“The lights can be put up during the week,” Laycock said.
