Linn County Parks will open extra campsite spaces by Friday, March 19, the start of spring break, according to Parks Director Brian Carroll.
Carroll said several county parks allow camping year-round, on a reduced basis.
“We especially want to get campgrounds going this year, since we believe people are going to want to enjoy being outdoors due to the COVID-19 restrictions that are in place statewide,” Carroll said. “There was a huge demand for a camping last summer as well.”
Carroll said 60 additional camping spaces will be opened to the 60 already open at Waterloo County Park and all 85 spaces — that includes three yurts and four cabins — will be open at River Bend County Park near Cascadia.
The “A” row at Sunnyside County Park near Sweet Home will have 72 spaces available and by April 30, all 165 camping slips will be available, Carroll said.
“Boats and cabins at Clear Lake have been available all winter, but we will open the restaurant and store on Mother’s Day weekend,” Carroll said.
Cascadia State Park, which is managed by Linn County Parks has added a campsite host and will open May 14, Carroll said.
Carroll said the parks system will have approximately 588 owned or managed camping spaces this year.
Daily rates range from $20 for a tent site at one of the Forest Service campgrounds to $65 per night for a yurt or $85 per night for a yurt and a camping trailer.
Edgewater Marina on Foster Reservoir has 40 boat slips available to rent. Cost is $925 from May through September.
