Parmly Martin

Parmly Martin, 83, died on Sept. 2, 2009 at Twin Oaks after a lengthy illness.

He was born on July 23, 1926 to Cecil and Frances Martin. In 1937, the family moved to Burlingame, Calif., where he grew up.

He entered the Coast Guard during World War II and the Army during the Korean conflict.

He returned to Santa Clara University and earned a business degree and teaching credentials.

He was proud of his part in organizing the Sea Scouts San Francisco Bay Chapter for disadvantaged boys, whom he taught for five years.

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maxine; daughters, Barbara, Judy and Marian; sons, Ted and Rob; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He requested no funeral service or graveside service. Instead of flowers, donations may be given to the Albany Safe Haven Humane Society, (541)928-2789.
