Pascalar honored by NY boys school

Former School District 55 Board Chairman and 20-year Sweet Home resident Bob Pascalar received the Berkshire School for Boys Medal of Excellence.

The medal was awarded for dedication and service to children and families.

Pascalar attended Berkshire in Candan, N.Y. in 1957 and 1958.

The school was honoring Pascalar for his lifelong dedication to youth through his involvement with 4-H, youth activities and college scholarships.

Pascalar said he was completely surprised by the presentation. The medal was awarded to him and one other almnus, a professor from Buffalo State University in New York. The professor was keynote speaker at this year’s event.

In his acceptance speech, Pascalar explained the profound his experience at Berkshire had on his life. He noted that the first recognition he had ever recieved in his life, more than 43 years ago, was at Berkshire Boys School.
