Patricia Ann Hemelstrand, 85, of Sweet Home passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024. She was born on June 7, 1939 to John and Elizabeth (Hall) Smith in Jefferson.

She grew up in the Dallas, Monmouth, Independence area. She lived in Independence from 1966 to 1984, Sweet Home from 1985 to 2023 and recently Salem until her passing.

Patricia earned a certificate of practical nursing from Chemeketa in 1973. Patricia worked over 20 years at West Valley Hospital as a surgical nurse. She worked at Lebanon Hospital for another 30 years and Walmart for a year in 2020.

She loved to travel by cruise, Mexico, Alaska and Europe were just a few. Patricia won many blue ribbons for her knitting, crocheting and quilting. She enjoyed painting and was an avid reader. She went to the Oregon Jamboree faithfully for many years.

Patricia is survived by her husband of 39 years Jack Hemelstrand of Sweet Home; daughters Tamara Watkins of Keizer and Debra Rhodes of Keaʻau, Hawaii, brother Harold Crook and sister Phyllis Crook both of Salem, stepchildren; Dave Weston, Doug Weston, Sherry Hayhurt, Jack Hemelstrand Jr., and Jeff Hemelstrand, 22+ grandchildren, 20+ great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband James S. Newton (1973), husband Sherman D. Weston (1984); mother Elizabeth Crook (1999), stepfather Raymond Crook (1975), brother Sterling Crook (2021), son James S. Weston (2021).
