Patricia “Patti” Woods, 73, of Sweet Home, passed away Thursday at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. She was born in Dunbar, West Virginia the daughter of Henry George and Beulah Ann (Finney) Strobel.
Patti served in the United States Navy from 1956 – 1958. She married while in Texas. Patti lived in, the Philippines,Washington, Maryland and Florida. She moved to Sweet Home in 1982 to take care of her brother-in-law, Vernon.
Patti was a member and the secretary at Fir Lawn Lutheran Church. Past BPW Woman of the Year, BPW Past State President, Board member of the Chamber of Commerce as well as the chair of the banquet. She did work with and chaired the Sportsman’s Holiday, Christmas parades and Rodeo Board.
She enjoyed crochet, yard work and computers. She took a key roll in organizing many community events. She also loved spending time with friends and family.
Patti is survived by her husband of 52 years, Eugene “Woody” Woods; daughters: Kimberly Palmer of Sweet Home, Kathleen Crain and husband Robert of Royal Oaks, CA; siblings: Phyllis Steele of Dunbar, WV, Richard Strobel of Charleston, SC, Jackie Settle of Sanford, FL and Shirley Wright of Orlando, FL; two grandchildren: Megan Davis of Mountain View, CA and Chas Palmer of Sweet Home; niece Donnel Steele and husband Wayne of Sultan, WA; 42 living nieces, nephews, many grandnieces and grandnephews, and extended family Patricia and Tom Kennedy of WA.
She was preceded in death by eight sisters and brothers.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 2, at Fir Lawn Lutheran Church in Sweet Home. A luncheon followed services.
