Patrick Clinton “Pat” McCollum, 75, of Sweet Home died Dec. 9, 2014.
He was born Dec. 29, 1938 in Albany to Raymond Eugene “Mac” and Janette (Herbert) McCollum.
He was raised in Sweet Home and attended schools in the community, graduating at Sweet Home Union High School in 1957.
He met Ival Parker as a child. They were married in 1960, started their family and remained in Sweet Home.
Mr. McCollum was the owner of McCollum Logging from 1978 to 2014. He retired earlier this year after running his logging business for 36 years.
He was a life-long rock hound, beginning around the age of 10. He enjoyed being outdoors anywhere or anytime, and loved hunting and camping. He went hunting this past fall, killing a six-point bull.
Mr. McCollum loved spending time with his family, recently welcoming in his first great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Ival; daughter Teresa Elaine McCollum of Prescott, Ariz.; son Clinton Ray and daughter-in-law Dyann McCollum of Sweet Home; brothers Jim McCollum and sister-in-law Betty of Lacomb, and Jerry McCollum and sister-in-law Bonnie of Sweet Home; mother Janette McCollum of Sweet Home; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Eugene “Mac” McCollum, in 1981.
A funeral service and reception were held Dec. 15 at Sweet Home Evangelical Church. Burial followed at Gilliland Cemetery.
