Patrick James Wood, 61, of Sweet Home died Dec. 1, 2015 at Corvallis Regional Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 28, 1953 in Canyonville to Donald James and Ruth Lorrain (Miller) Wood. He was their fourth child.

The family moved to Brownsville, where he spent all of his school years, graduating in 1972 from Central Linn High School.

Mr. Wood starting working right out of high school with Waibel Logging of Brownsville. He had a love of logging, which is what his father and uncles did. He went on to work at Willamette Industries, where he finished there on the cutting crew.

Mr. Wood returned to school at LBCC to study water and wastewater treatment. He realized he loved this career and landed a job in Sweet Home at the water and wastewater treatment plants, where he later became a supervisor. He later moved on to become the superintendent of the maintenance crew of the city Public Works department, a position he held until his death.

Mr. Wood married Teri Lynn Simkins on July 21, 1978 in Reno, Nev.

They started in Brownsville, then moved to Sweet Home 30 years ago. Not only were they husband and wife, but they had the honor to be each other’s best friends.

They would spend any free time they had together, going on many road trips.

Mr. Wood will be missed for everything he did at work and at home. He loved his family and was always there.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years Teri of Sweet Home; three sons, Donald Robert Wood of Lebanon, James Alan Wood and Jessica Lea Nofziger of Sweet Home, and Patrick Levi Massey of Brownsville; sister Dixie and brother-in-law John Stires of Vancouver, Wash.; brother Ray and sister-in-law Wanda Wood of LaPine; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Glenda Muller.

A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Sweet Home Evangelical Church. Inurnment will take place at Gilli-land Cemetery.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
