Paul Hyland

Paul D. Hyland, 56, of Sweet Home died Oct. 13, 2007 at the VA Hospital in Portland.

He was born May 24, 1951 in Dublin, Ireland, to John J. and Anne T. (White) Hyland. He was a corporal in the USMC/Marines and was a Vietnam veteran, serving there from 1969 – 1971. He was disabled following his military service.

Mr. Hyland came to Sweet Home to support his wife in her endeavors at O.S.U. in 2004. Prior to this he resided in California for almost 30 years. He emigrated with his family from Dublin, Ireland and was raised in East Cleveland, Ohio.

He volunteered as a crisis intervention worker while in California and kept himself active as an artisan. He enjoyed painting, reading books, listening to music, singing and good conversation. He was also involved in mastiff rescue.

Mr. Hyland is survived by his wife, Cindylou Hyland of Sweet Home; mother, Anne T. Hyland of Salem, Ohio; sisters Eileen Harvey of Maine and Moira Neill of Stratford-Upon-Avon, UK; and his beloved English mastiff, Sebastion.

He was preceded in death by his father, John J. Hyland.

A private burial was held by his family on Oct. 17 at Brownsville’s Pioneer Cemetery.
