Payrlee McCall, 94, of Sweet Home, died Oct. 12, 2011.
She was born Nov. 22, 1916 in Wynnewood, Okla. to Charles and Eldora Ann (Simmons) Huddleston.
In 1921 she traveled from Oklahoma to Lewis, Colo. in a covered wagon with her father, mother, three sisters and two brothers.
She graduated from high school in Cortez, Colo. in 1934 and married John McCall in 1935. They lived in Colorado, Idaho and Arizona before moving to Whittier, Calif. where Mrs. McCall worked in an office and Mr. McCall worked in the shipyards during the war. At the end of the war they bought a farm and moved to Sweet Home, where she lived until 2002.
Mrs. McCall then lived in the Mennonite Village in Albany, Wiley Creek Community in Sweet Home, and most recently Summit Springs Memory Care in Condon.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, painting, flower arranging, and especially enjoyed quilting.
She is survived by her three daughters, Alice Barnes of Condon; Esther and son-in-law Leo Sullivan of Tigard; and Betty and son-in-law Robert Sullivan of Sweet Home; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John McCall; and grandsons, Scott Barnes and Danny Sullivan.
Contributions may be made in her name to Sweet Home High School Alumni Scholarship Fund. Mrs. McCall greatly valued education. Her three daughters and three grandsons, as well as many friends and their children, all graduated from Sweet Home High School.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Lewis Cemetery in Foster.
