The Sweet Home PEO/Chapter DD, has awarded a pair of Oregon scholarships to Mikayla Spencer and Megan Albion and a Marguerite scholarship to Kelly Ogden.
Spencer currently attends Portland State University, where she’s working toward a master’s degree in social work. Ogden, a George Fox student, hopes to earn a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
Albion is enrolled at Oregon Institute of Technology, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene.
“These awards will be used to complete their chosen degrees and it is an honor to be able to help these ladies,” PEO education chairperson Dee Dee Looney said. “PEO’s purpose is to promote educational opportunities for deserving women of all ages, foster lifelong, supportive relationships between women and enhance the lives of those within its community.”
The chapter provides these scholarships through an annual berry sale.
Each June members take orders for locally grown, flash-frozen blueberries and blackberries.
A yard sale will also be scheduled this month.
“This summer we would love to double our orders and be able to help future deserving ladies achieve their education goals,” Looney said.
