PEO-DD awards scholarships

Sweet Home Chapter PEO, Chapter DD, has announced its annual scholarship winners.

Recipients are all Sweet Home-area residents.

Sidney Nichol will be awarded $2,000 for the Marguerite Scholarship. She is attending Corban University.

Mikayla Spencer will be awarded $1,700 through the Oregon State Chapter Scholarship. She is attending Portland State University.

Samantha Hutchins will be awarded $1,400 through the Oregon State Chapter Scholarship. She is attending Western Oregon University.

These awards will be used to complete their chosen degrees and it is an honor to be able help these ladies,” said Nancy Ashlock, education chairperson.

PEO’s purpose is to promote educational opportunities for deserving women of all ages, foster life-long supportive relationships between women and enhance the lives of those within its community.

The chapter is able to provide these scholarships through an annual berry sale. Each June members take orders for locally grown, flash-frozen strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries.

Berries will be ready for pick-up on Aug. 8.

“This summer we would love to double our orders and be able to help future deserving ladies achieve their education goals,” Ashlock said.
