Local photographers’ work, featuring mostly Sweet Home scenes, is on display in the art gallery at City Hall.
Though a scheduled grand opening for the show, titled “Only in Sweet Home,” scheduled for Friday, April 9,was canceled due to the move to “High” risk in Linn County Friday, the gallery is open to those who want to see the display.
“They’re gorgeous, aren’t they?” said City Councilwoman Diane Gerson, one of the organizers, as she prepped photographs for display last week. “We were really pleased.”
The approximately 60 photos are all linked to Sweet Home in some way and most are shot locally, all by photographers who reside in east Linn County, Gerson said. Three are panorama shots and at least two are aerial photos.
Each participant has up to five photos on display.
Four of the photos will be turned into postcards to be sold by the Sweet Home Chamber of Commerce, she added.
Also, the exhibit will offer viewers an opportunity to choose their favorite photo. A People’s Choice award will go to the photographer who wins.
The exhibit is organized by SHOCASE, a local group dedicated to promoting art and culture in Sweet Home, which has held two other exhibits in the City Hall gallery since the fall of 2019.
Gallery hours are the same as City Hall’s – 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 3225 Main St.
