At 4:29 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, emergency personnel responded to a traffic collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian at 899 Main St. A gray 2016 Toyota Tacoma driven by Richard Evans, 60, of Sweet Home, was traveling westbound on Main Street and making a left turn into the NAPA Auto Parts parking lot when it struck Joshua McNeal, 43, of Sweet Home, traveling eastbound on a motorized scooter on the sidewalk. McNeal impacted the passenger side of the truck by its rear tire.
The pickup truck had some heavy denting on its passenger side, while the scooter sustained minimal damage. McNeal was transported to the hospital by medics, but has since been released. Sweet Home Police Department Sergeant Geoff Hamlin, who is investigating the incident, described McNeal’s injuries as “moderate.”
