Police department offers prizes for best logo ideas

Sweet Home Police Department needs a new logo and is seeking submissions for a new design.

The winning designer will receive a $200 prize. The second-place designer will receive $50.

“We are looking for a fresh new look and we are interested in your ideas and designs,” said Community Services Specialist Gina Riley. “You have the chance to be named the Official Logo Designer for the Sweet Home Police Department. It could be your design that is seen on staff uniforms, website, advertising tools and department stationary.”

The contest is open to everyone. Deadline for designs is 5 p.m. on Oct. 16. There will be no exceptions to the deadline.

All designs will be presented to the Sweet Home Police Department staff for initial selection and elimination. They will select five finalists and award first and second places with three honorable mentions.

The Logo Contest Committee of seven will select winners from the finalists. The committee may include a police officer, a dispatcher, a city employee, firefighter, a city councilor, a business owner, the city manager, a School District staff member, a Sweet Home Economic Development Group member or a member of the Oregon Jamboree organization.

Judging will take place between Oct. 19 and Oct. 22 with the winner announced on Oct. 23.

For design requirements, guidelines and designer forms, contact Riley at 367-5181.

Designs may be submitted by hand, mail or email at [email protected]. By email, “LOGO CONTEST” must be in the subject line. Mailing address is Sweet Home Police Department, Attention: CSO Gina Riley; SHPD LOGO CONTEST COMMITTEE, 1950 Main St., Sweet Home, OR 97386.

Multiple designs from one person will be accepted, but must include a separate designer form.
