Police last week assisted a 63-year-old Grants Pass woman, who had been reported as a missing person, when she inadvertently arrived in Sweet Home.
“She was lost,” said Sweet Home police Sgt. Jason Ogden. “Apparently she was on her way to Florence.”
The woman had been reported as a missing person in Grants Pass on May 28, Ogden said.
Sweet Home police received a report of a Toyota Matrix swerving all over the road at 8:33 a.m. On Tuesday, May 30, Ogden said. An officer responded, contacted the woman and the department learned she had been reported as a missing person.
“She told the officer she had left the Eugene area en route to Florence,” Ogden said. “We gave her a ride to the Police Department.”
Police contacted a Eugene-area family member, who drove to Sweet Home to pick up the woman.
The missing person report said she was possibly in the beginning stages of dementia, easily lost and confused and had difficulty seeing in the dark.
