Police Logs: Feb. 15, 2025

All information presented herein is obtained from publicly available Oregon court and law enforcement records. Feb. 8

10:27 a.m. – Police responded to request from Sheriff’s Office to assist homeless female lying on sidewalk. Female refused medical. Shopping cart returned to BiMart per store request. Female warned for blocking sidewalk in violation of city ordinance. 22nd/Nandina.

11:55 a.m. – Chloe Estelle Linares cited for no operator’s license, driving uninsured, 18th Ave./Long St.

11:56 a.m. – Driver cited for expired tags (September 2024), Main St./North Ave., Brownsville.

Sheriff’s log did not list name, which was not available at press time.

12:46 p.m. – Sheri Yvonne Bower, 52, arrested for second-degree criminal trespass, Taco Bell, 1500 block Main St. Also arrested on Linn County Circuit Court warrant for failure to appear in dangerous drugs case. Cited and released.

1:08 p.m. – Police responded to Douglas County Sheriff’s Office request to assist in recovery of stolen motorcycle from 43700 block Wiley Creek Rd. Officer responded but was unable to make contact due to phone number being out of service.

4:07 p.m. – James Yother, 53, of Stayton, cited for speeding, 67/35, 800 block Main St.

7:53 p.m. – Caller reported hearing gunshot in area of 24th Ave./Long St. Officer responded, determined – after viewing security camera footage, that noise was caused by firework thrown out of window. No damage, everyone OK.

11:07 p.m. – Kevin Austin Corrington, 26, arrested on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in theft case, probation detainer.  Lodged at Linn County Jail. 3000 block Main St.

 

Feb. 7

1:44 a.m. – Deston McQuistan, 26, cited for driving while suspended, Pleasant Valley/Ridgeway roads.

7:20 a.m. – Caller reported they were scammed out of $22,000. Caller’s wife was convinced to withdraw the money and deposit that amount into a Bitcoin ATM to be sent to unknown account. Investigation ongoing. 28000 block Meridian Heights Loop. Report taken.

7:34 a.m. – Caller reported finding airsoft gun at Hawthorne School, 3200 block Hawthorne St. Officer responded, item placed in property at Police Station.

7:59 a.m. – Crash reported at Main St./Pleasant Valley Rd. According to Sweet Home police, Shelley Anne Dunham, 66, driving a 2015 Nissan Altima, allegedly pulled off of Pleasant Valley in front of a 2021 Nissan Maxima being driven westbound by Jared Joshua Claunch. Damage over $2,500. Dunham, 66, cited for driving while suspended, dangerous left turn. No injuries reported. Vehicles towed.

8:30 a.m. – Larry Dean Bergstrom, 60, arrested by Linn County Sheriff’s Office on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply in theft case. Cited to appear Feb. 26.

10:40 a.m. – Jessie Davis, 29, of Albany, cited for expired tags (March 2022) and suspended DMV violation. Also arrested on outstanding warrant for contempt of court from Sweet Home Municipal Court. Main St./North Ave., Brownsville.

10:58 a.m. – Jessie Lane Davis, 29, arrested by Linn County Sheriff’s Office on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply in DUII case. Cited to appear Feb. 26.

11:20 a.m. – William Jimerson, 19, of Junction City, cited for speeding, 26000 block Hwy. 99, Halsey.

12:25 p.m. – Caller reported juveniles caught stealing from Safeway, 1540 Main St. Officer responded, juveniles trespassed, released to parents.

12:25 p.m. – Driver cited for expired tags (August 2023), Main St./North Ave., Brownsville.  Sheriff’s log did not list name, which was not available at press time.

12:47 p.m. – Driver cited for expired tags (July 2024), Main St./North Ave., Brownsville.   Sheriff’s log did not list name, which was not available at press time.

1:05 p.m. – Driver cited for expired tags (July 2023), Main St./North Ave., Brownsville.  Sheriff’s log did not list name, which was not available at press time.

5:31 p.m. – Multiple callers reported crash  in 1200 block 43rd Ave. According to police, Samantha Christine Mansell was driving a 2000 Nissan Maxima eastbound on Main Street in the left lane, with a large truck driving parallel to her in the right lane. Just past 44th, the truck passed Mansell. Robert William Nelson was driving a 2014 Toyota Tundra pickup north on 44th Avenue and stopped at the stop sign on Main Street. According to police, Nelson saw the truck and waited for it to pass, but did not see Mansell in the Maxima, and pulled out and struck Mansell. The Tundra sustained moderate damage, while the Maxima had moderate to heavy damage. A 9-year-old passenger in the Tundra suffered minor injuries, police said. No citations issued.

9:29 p.m. – Dallas Andrew Samson, 42, arrested on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply in trespassing case. Cited and released. 1500 block Main St.

10:37 p.m. – Gilbert Alonzo Martinez, 49, arrested on Albany Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in theft case. Cited and released. Also arrested for  possession of meth, 3000 block Main St.

 

Feb. 6

8:15 a.m. – Sheri Yvonne Bower arrested on Albany Municipal Court warrant for contempt of court, Sweet Home Police Station, 1950 Main St. Cited and released.

8:31 a.m. – Jorge Joker Greene Lopez cited for speeding, 50/35, Milepost 26 on Hwy. 20.

9:59 a.m. – Lola Ellerena Wolfe cited for no valid operator’s license, 700 block Long St.

10:11 a.m. – Walter Wesley Windom arrested for failure to register as sex offender, Sweet Home Police Department, 1950 Main St.  Lodged at Linn County Jail.

10:56 a.m. – Michael Dashawn Ferebee cited for driving while suspended, driving uninsured, 2200 block Main St.

12:54 p.m. – Robert Lee Magelky cited for three dogs at large after caller reported that three dogs had entered her chicken coop and killed all her chickens, 3500 block Juniper St.

1:24 p.m. – Caller reported that their business was sent to collections for $59,727.39 worth of fraudulent charges. 100 block W. Blakely Ave., Brownsville.  Report taken. Further details unavailable.

 

2:34 p.m. – Michael Todd Rosencrantz arrested on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for third-degree theft, Linn County Circuit Court warrant for contempt of court. Cited and released. Osage St./43rd Ave.

3:23 p.m. – Michael Dean Stratman arrested on Albany Municipal Court warrant for contempt of court, 1300 block Elm St. Cited and released.

3:35 p.m. – Driver, whose name was not listed, cited for failure to stop for bus safety lights after allegedly driving past school bus while its stop sign was extended. 44000 block North River Dr.

4:24 p.m. – Caller reported female in roadway, 6300 block Main St., not moving for vehicles, acting “odd.” Officer responded, contacted female, who was advised to stay out of the road and, at last check, was heading into town.

4:28 p.m. – Caller reported daughter’s Airpods were stolen from school earlier in day and were not pinging at residence on 8th Ave.  Officer responded, Airpods were returned, and matter was being handled civilly. 1600 block Long St.

5:12 p.m. – Sheriff’s Office responded to report of stolen vehicle in 49100 block Hwy. 228. Investigation ongoing. Further details not available.

 

Feb. 5

7:38 a.m. – Austin Robert Newton, 55, arrested for menacing after caller reported neighbor threatening her, allegedly doing donuts in the cul-de-sac, 300 block Pine St.

12:07 a.m. – Steven Lee Ballweber, 35, arrested on Lebanon Justice Court warrant for criminal trespass, Albany Municipal Court warrant for contempt of court, and Lebanon Municipal Court warrant for probation violation. Cited and released. 22nd Ave./Main St.

11:18 a.m. – Deputies responded to a vehicle that went off an embankment while driving in the snow in 24200 block West Brush Creek Rd. No injuries and vehicle was not damaged, but it had to be winched back onto the road.

11:57 a.m. – Deputies responded to theft report in 000 block W. 1st St., Halsey.

2:24 p.m. – Unoccupied illegal camp reported in 49700 block Canyon Creek Rd. Report taken.

2:48 p.m. – Kayla Laree McNight, 34, turned herself in and was arrested at Sweet Home Police Station, 1950 Main St., on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in theft case. Cited and released.

3:13 p.m. – Illegal camp reported in 49800 block Canyon Creek Rd. No immediate suspects. Report taken.

 

Feb. 4

2:39 a.m. – Miguel Alfredo Gutierrez, 42, arrested by Eugene police on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in giving false information case. Cited to appear Feb. 26.

11:10 a.m. – Dustin Phares, 42, of Sweet Home, arrested for second-degree trespass, possession of meth, and on multiple warrants, 29100 block Santiam Hwy. Report taken.

Further details not available.

11:11 a.m. – Crash reported in 26000 block 1st St., Crawfordsville. Oregon State Police  responded.

3:08 p.m. – Deputy responded to complaint of littering in 100 block W. Bishop Way, Brownsville. Report taken.

12:49 p.m. – Caller requested welfare check on female who had not been picking up her meals or answering her door in 1800 block Fir Court. Officer responded to find female experiencing paranoia and had barricaded herself in home. Officer contacted mental health response team, which will respond.

3:32 p.m. – Officer conducted death investigation in 1800 block Willow St.

6:13 p.m. – Marcus Wesley Hesson, 53, arrested on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in resisting arrest case, Albany Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in harassment case, and Benton County Circuit Court warrant for failure to appear in resisting arrest case. Cited and released. 12th Ave./Kalmia St.

7:15 p.m. – Caller reported boat on fire near intersection of Old Mill property and Green River.  Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District responded as well as police. According to police, the boat was on the ground and appeared to have been dumped at the location. The engine and jet pump had been removed. There was no evidence of a battery or other clear ignition source, indicating that the fire had been intentionally set. The officer estimated the value of the boat prior to the fire to be about $500. An online search of the hull number indicates that the boat is a 1975 Arrow Glass Cheetah. Report taken for second-degree arson.

9:17 p.m. – Dennis James Garner, 54, arrested at Linn County Jail on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in theft case. Cited to appear Feb. 26.

Feb. 3

12:58 a.m. – Carson Albert Strasser, 35, arrested on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in criminal mischief case. Cited and released. 2400 block Main St.

1:25 a.m. – Cody Allen Bowman, 35, arrested on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrants in theft cases. Cited and released. 3200 block Main St.

2:16 a.m. – Caller reported that a male had taken his generator and had not returned after caller gave him money to get propane. Report taken for second-degree theft. Approximate value $240. 3100 block Zelkova St.

2:18 a.m. – Caller reported that male entered Mr. Lucky’s Deli, 1207 Long St., and punched another customer in the face. Report taken for fourth-degree assault.  Investigation continuing.

7:57 a.m. – Stolen vehicle recovered from 1700 block Main St. Report taken.

8:34 a.m. – Caller requested that trailer be removed from park in 3100 block Zelkova St. Officer responded, tow company and owner of vehicle worked out private tow.

10:53 a.m. – Deputy attempted to locate two loose goats in 35500 block Cochran Creek Dr., but did not them.

11:58 a.m. – Caller reported two goats walking in middle of road in 35500 block Cochran Creek Dr.

3:41 p.m. – Bradley Marion Pugh arrested by Linn County Sheriff’s Office on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply in hit-and-run case. Cited to appear Feb. 26.

3:58 p.m. – Marv Dean Cox arrested at Linn County Jail on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in trespassing case. Cited to appear Feb. 26.

 

Feb. 2

12:41 a.m. – Michael Evan Matthews, 39, arrested on Lebanon Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in a driving-while-suspended case. Also trespassed from Dollar General after caller reported previous evening that male who had been trespassed continued to return to store. Cited and released.

8:05 a.m. – Benjamin Philip Hyatt arrested by Lebanon police on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in criminal trespass case. Cited to appear Feb. 26.

8:38 a.m. – Caller reported male in parking lot in 800 block Main St. waving gas can and yelling at vehicles. Officer responded, learned that male had run out of gas and was seeking assistance.

2:18 p.m. – Deputies responded to stuck motorist near Gordon Lake trailhead, 51200 block Canyon Creek Rd.  Deputies pulled vehicle to point where it could get down mountain.

3:20 p.m. – Caller reported hoodie stolen from the temp shelter area. She was able to describe the hoodie in detail. The officer located another individual at the temp shelter with the described hoodie. The hoodie was recovered and returned to the caller, who did not wish to pursue charges. Caller also provided suspect with information where he could receive free clothing and blankets. The suspect was warned by the officer for his conduct and advised that he would be excluded from the temporary shelter if he doesn’t follow the rules in the future. Report taken for third-degree theft, 1950 Main St.

5:59 p.m. – Shawn Edward Moon cited for no valid operators license, 6100 block Main St.

6:08 p.m. – Officer responded to Oregon State Police report of motorist swerving and almost hitting guardrail, driving with high beams on continually. Officer located vehicle and made traffic stop near Milepost 44 on Hwy. 20, learned driver was tired from snowboarding. Occupants of vehicle agreed they would switch drivers.

7:33 p.m. – Talen Victor Graber, 18, cited for failure to obey traffic control device, 4200 block Long St.
