Feb. 23

12:33 a.m. – Caller reported male too drunk to get off sidewalk in 1300 block Long St. Officer responded, male declined transport by medics. Sober person gave him ride home. Report to be forwarded to OLCC.

4:03 p.m. – Mica Deann West, 34, arrested by Sherman County Sheriff’s Office on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply in DUII case. Cited to appear on March 12.

5:14 p.m. – Collin Finerty-Sears, 21, of Milwaukie, cited for speeding, Hwy. 228/Walnut Rd., Brownsville.

9:59 p.m. – Michael Brown, 49, of Sweet Home, cited for driving uninsured, Gilbert Lane/Holley Rd.

 

Feb. 22

10:15 a.m. – Paul William Kalina, 49, arrested on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply in theft-of-services case, Lebanon Municipal Court probation violation in theft case, and Albany Municipal Court warrant for contempt of court, Safeway, 1500 block Main St. Cited and released.

10:48 a.m. – John Henry, 34, of Brownsville, cited for expired tags, North Ave./Main St., Brownsville.

11:04 a.m. – Deputies responded to report of hit-and-run, 26800 block Old Holley Rd. Mailbox on side of road was hit. Mailbox has been replaced and cost $80. No other damage.

11:38 a.m. – Jacob Graves, 25, of Lebanon, cited for expired tags (March 2024), Park Ave./Main St., Brownsville.

12:12 p.m. – Skyler Wilamon, 26, of Springfield, cited for expired tags (October 2024), North Ave./Main St., Brownsville.

2:05 p.m. – Shaylin Christensen, 31, of Springfield, cited for expired tags (July 2024), North Ave./Main St., Brownsville.

2:51 p.m. – Robert Hand, 43, of Sweet Home, cited for failure to register vehicle, North Ave./Main St., Brownsville.

3:19 p.m. – Jane Cassidy, 74, cited for speeding, 40/25, after caller reported vehicle allegedly speeding, cutting other vehicles off. Location not listed.

15:47 p.m. – Phillip Passmore cited for driving while suspended, driving uninsured, and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. Vehicle impounded. Main/Osage streets.

4:34 p.m. – James Evans cited for driving uninsured, Long St./15th Ave.

8:36 p.m. – Officer flagged down by citizen who reported crash at 43rd Ave./Airport Rd. Non-injury. Damages under $2,500. No citations.

9:33 p.m. – Loa Ann Louise Branton, 35, arrested on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in theft case, Lebanon Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in driving-while-suspended case, and Linn County Justice Court warrant in theft case. Cited and released. This occurred after caller reported that someone had shut the power off to her house and was trying to break down the door.  800 block Cedar St.

Feb. 21

2:00 a.m. – David Sappington, 28, of Sweet Home, cited for driving uninsured, Hwy. 20/Clark Mill Rd.

12:08 a.m. – Caller reported overdose in 27100 block High Deck Rd. By time Sheriff’s Office arrived, female had given victim Narcan and he recovered.

4:00 p.m. – J. Baskin, 47, of Sweet Home, cited for expired tags, Bishop Way/Faust St., Brownsville.

 

Feb. 20

12:16 a.m. – Caller reported vehicle went through fence in 300 block W. Holley Rd. Officer responded. According to police, Jacqueline Banta, 34, was driving a 1996 Toyota pickup. Details on how crash occurred not available at press time. No injuries. Damages under $2,500. Information exchanged.

1:10 a.m. – Robert Kevin Gardner, 59, arrested by Albany police on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply in criminal mischief case. Cited to appear March 12.

2:59 a.m. – Shawn Michael Gali, 46, arrested on Lebanon Municipal Court warrant for probation violation in theft case. Cited and released. 27300 block Rowell Hill Rd.

7:49 a.m. – Caller reported that someone had tried to steal their vehicle. According to LCSO, doors were found open on a 2002 Nissan Sentra  and the ignition had been tampered with.   25400 block Crescent Hill Rd. Report taken.

12:02 p.m. – Shaniqa Rose Lewis, 32, of Sweet Home, cited for speeding, 51/35, 900 block Main St., Brownsville.

12:10 p.m. – Huot Prach, 55, of Salem, cited for speeding, 77/55, and following too close, 28800 block Hwy. 20.

1:12 p.m. – Joshua Luke Walker, 24, of Lebanon, cited for speeding, 50/35, 900 block N. Main St., Brownsville.

3:07 p.m. – Adult male died at logging operation.  Report taken. See story on PAGE ####.

6:15 p.m. – Theft reported in 28000 block Fern Ridge Rd. The victim in this theft is in the Linn County Jail. Sheriff’s Office is investigating, as someone known to victim appears to be attempting to sell victim’s belongings on Facebook Marketplace. Unknown if anything has been taken or sold at this time. Investigation ongoing. Report taken.

 

Feb. 19

12:18 a.m. – Hunger Gomez, 40, arrested by Linn County Sheriff’s Office on Sweet Home Municipal Court for failure to comply in theft case, issued citation to appear on March 12.

9:28 a.m. – Tyler Lanz, 37, charged at Linn County Jail with felony possession of methamphetamines, felony possession of cocaine, distribution of a controlled substance-meth within 1,000 feet of a school, distribution of controlled substance-cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school, manufacture of meth and manufacture of cocaine. According to police, a backpack tied to Lanz was found containing meth and cocaine. Lanz already lodged at Linn County Jail on other charges.

12:06 p.m. – Caller reported his vehicle had been stolen from 1500 block Tamarack  St. He recovered it, but reported that it was now broken down.  Report taken.

12:08 p.m. – Caller reported female who appeared to be intoxicated exposing herself on side of road, 3000 block Main St. Officer responded, contacted female and advised her to keep herself covered. No apparent criminal intent.

12:33 p.m. – City Public Works Department reported that someone had cut lock on city water meter, turned water back on at residence in 1200 block 43rd Ave. Loss value $66. According to police. During the investigation, the resident admitted to cutting the lock and turning the water back on. After confirmation from City Hall that all outstanding balances had been paid, the city chose not to pursue charges. The case has been cleared exceptionally. Report taken.

3:20 p.m. – Joshua Post, of Harrisburg, cited for speeding, 56/35, 1000 block N. Main St., Brownsville.

3:25 p.m. – Daniel Edward Marcum arrested on Albany Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in larceny case. Cited and released. 800 block 18th Ave.  Caller had reported male in bathroom drinking alcohol and refusing to leave.

4:28 p.m. – Bacilio Toscano Garcia, 57, of Sweet Home, cited for speeding, 39/25, 1000 block N. Main St., Brownsville.

5:29 p.m. – Caller reported criminal mischief in 29200 block Jones Dr. Report taken. See story on PAGE ####.

 

Feb. 18

10:56 a.m. – Oregon State Police reported vehicle stopping on highway, speeding and passing in center lane. Officer located vehicle, contacted male who denied that behavior. He was counseled on his actions. Highway 20 mp 23.

1:07 p.m. – Daniel Raymond Nofzinger, 42, arrested by Albany police on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply in trespass case. Cited to appear on March 12.

2:23 p.m. – Oregon State Police reported firearm denial, 400 block Ironwood.

2:24 p.m. – Jay Boyd Marsh, 60, arrested by Linn County Sheriff’s Office on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply in theft case. Cited to appear March 12.

2:24 p.m. – Caller reported missing bag with $5,000 in it in Sweet Home area. Officer responded. An individual reported the  missing bag, which contained funds withdrawn from a local bank for personal use and were later discovered missing from their vehicle. An officer responded, took a report, and assisted with a vehicle search. Description of bag not avaialble. Report taken.

3:26 p.m. – Caller reported theft through EBay. According to police, an individual reported being deceived in an online transaction involving the sale of a collectible coin through eBay. The coin was shipped to an address in Houston, Texas, following what initially appeared to be a legitimate purchase confirmation. The coin, a 1909 “D” gold half eagle valued at approximately $2,600, was delivered via FedEx. The investigation is ongoing as officers work to verify transaction details and recipient information. Report taken.  3100 block Main St.

8:26 p.m. – Caller reported that deer in area may have rabies, 1300 block Nandina St. Officer checked neighborhood, unable to locate any injured animals in area.

 

Feb. 17

2:31 a.m. – Officer on foot patrol located graffiti in 1700 block 11th Ave.  Report taken.

3:49 a.m. – Caller reported theft in 1800 block 12th Ave. During an investigation at Northside Park, an officer identified a suspect connected to a reported theft from the residence on 12th Avenue. The theft involved a bag of cans taken from a gated yard. Surveillance footage matched images shared on a local community watch Facebook page. The suspect is described as a white male, appearing to be in his 20s or early 30s, wearing a black baseball cap, blue/gray flannel, blue/white/red jacket, dark jeans, tan work boots, and a blue bandana. Efforts are ongoing to identify the individual, and contact has been made with the resident regarding the theft. Report taken.

4:35 p.m. – Salvador Rios, 36, of Shedd, cited for expired tags – March 2024,  Main St./Vroman Ave., Brownsville.

5:03 p.m. – Bradley Zurfluh, 35, of Shedd, cited for expired tags – Sept. 2024, Main St./Bishop Way, Brownsville.
