March 16
12:27 a.m. – Minor-in-possession party reported but deputies were unable to locate it in area of Quartzville Rd./Old Hufford Dr.
4:20 a.m. – Caller reported that someone used his vehicle without his permission and wrecked it, causing damage. Officer responded. Report taken for unauthorized use of motor vehicle. Holley Rd./Evergreen Lane. At 7:16 a.m., officer located crash scene at Oak Heights Elementary School. Investigation continuing.
4:56 a.m. – Caller reported that ditch in 3800 block Long St. was full and water was flooding into house. Public Works Department responding to issue.
7:45 a.m. – Christopher Summers, 43, of Springfield, cited for speeding, 85/55, 25000 block Hwy. 99, Halsey.
9:16 a.m. – Caller reported that someone was attempting to scam his father out of $7,000. Officer responded, contacted father and advised him not to send money to individual. 900 block 42nd Ave.
9:50 a.m. – Timothy Loren Ames Jr., 35, arrested on Lebanon Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in criminal citation case. Cited and released. Long St./Clark Mill Rd.
1:26 p.m. – Bonfire remnants discovered in 47200 block Old Hufford Dr. Trash left behind. Report taken.
3:03 p.m. – Brandon Ryan Freeman arrested by Lebanon Police on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply in trespass case. Cited to appear April 9.
4:44 p.m. – Caller reported three juveniles going into homes under construction in 1400 block Strawberry Ridge. Officer contacted juveniles, who said they were looking for rocks. Their parents were contacted.
7:49 p.m. – Caller reported male came into his home, assaulted him. Officer responded, was unable to locate other male. Report taken for first-degree assault. Investigation continuing.
March 15
3:40 a.m. – Matthew Kincaid Nelson arrested by Lebanon Police on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply in criminal driving case. Cited to appear April 9.
10:56 a.m. – Deputy moved Christmas tree out of road, 4800 block Hwy. 20.
2:12 p.m. – Dakota Lee Seward, 24, arrested on Linn County Circuit Court warrant for attempt to commit Class A felony. Lodged at Linn County Jail.
4:39 p.m. – Caller reported her bike was stolen a couple of days previously and a male showed up with it earlier in the day, then left with it. 3200 block Main St. Officer responded, took report for second-degree theft. Approximate value $200.
March 14
1:06 a.m. – Caller reported finding bag of drugs in 1200 block Long St. Officer responded, seized the drugs.
1:22 a.m. – Bethany Cook cited for driving uninsured, Hwy. 20 at city limits.
8:23 a.m. – Caller reported that someone appeared to be staying in one of new Porta Potties set up at girls softball field at Sweet Home High School, 1641 Long St. Female was trespassed from all school properties. School to padlock Porta Potties.
9:12 a.m. – Aleece Rochelle Woods, 39, arrested on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrants for failure to appear in two theft cases and Linn County Circuit Court warrant for failure to appear in trespass case after she turned herself in at Sweet Home Police Department, 1950 Main St. Cited and released.
9:34 a.m. – Criminal mischief reported in 45200 block Hwy. 20. Timber gate damaged and vehicle was driven in area in which it was not authorized. Report taken.
1:59 p.m. – Jay Boyd Marsh arrested by Lebanon Police on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply in theft case. Cited to appear April 9.
7:58 p.m. – Deputy intercepted two trucks full of young people on their way to a party in 200 block S. Main St., Brownsville. Deputy encouraged young people to make good decisions. No crimes or violations at time of stop.
8:15 p.m. – Deputies responded to a gathering of juveniles in timber area for bonfire in Courtney Creek Dr./Timber Rd. area, Brownsville. According to Sheriff’s log, “poor weather conditions ended the gathering quickly.”
9:01 p.m. – Deputies responded to report of an Minor In Possession party in area of Quartzville Rd./Old Hufford Dr. where firearms were being brandished. Deputies located several vehicles and minors in the area, but party was not located. One vehicle contained a 16-year-old and two 17-year-olds, who were detained until their parents responded to get them. They were referred to Juvenile Department for MIP alcohol and open container in vehicle. Report taken.
10:53 p.m. – Crash reported in 25600 block Timber Rd. No injuries. Parties handled situation on their own.
March 13
10:09 a.m. – Kennedy Duran Gonzales arrested by Lebanon Police on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in disorderly conduct case. Cited to appear April 9.
10:24 a.m. – City Code Enforcement officer located RV in Fir Lawn Lutheran Church parking lot, 100 block W. Holley Rd. RV towed.
11:51 a.m. – Caller reported large knife found at Oak Height School, 600 block Elm St. Officer responded. According to police, teacher found knife in classroom, but no one was in possession of it. Knife seized.
1:55 p.m. – Caller reported wallet stolen at Safeway, 1540 Main St. Officer responded. According to police, the wallet was apparently left in a shopping cart and credit card was later used at nearby business. Report taken for third-degree theft, fraudulent use of credit card. Investigation continuing.
3:49 p.m. – Benjamin Philip Hyatt arrested by Lebanon Police on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in criminal trespass case. Cited to appear April 9.
6:02 p.m. – Crash reported in area of Terrace Lane/Oak Terrace. According to police, juvenile, 16, was driving 2000 Toyota Tacoma westbound on Oak Terrace, left lane of travel and collided head-on with 1990 Honda Prelude operated by Braden Greene. Greene transported to hospital by medics. Juvenile cited for failure to maintain lane, operating unsafe vehicle.
7:59 p.m. – Bryan James Watts, 50, arrested by Linn County Sheriff’s Office on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply in failure to appear case. Cited to appear April 9.
8:35 p.m. – Overdose reported in 2300 block Main St. Female transported to hospital by medics.
10:39 p.m. – Michael Evan Matthews, 40, arrested on Lebanon Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in driving while suspended case. Also charged with unlawful possession of controlled substance – fentanyl. Cited and released. 3000 block Main St.
March 12
7:54 a.m. – Callers reported in area of 5th Ave./Ironwood St. Officer responded, report taken. Estimate damage less than $2,500. No injuries reported.
10:45 a.m. – Seven-year-old reported having stolen another student’s toy, then lying to principal about it. 200 block W. 2nd St., Halsey. Deputy spoke with child and his mother about incident.
11:55 a.m. – Juvenile, 17, cited for speeding, 75/55, in heavy rain, 28000 block Hwy. 20.
12:32 p.m. – Brent Anthony Prather, 32, arrested on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant in criminal trespass case after he turned himself in at Sweet Home Police Department, 1950 Main St. Cited to appear March 26, released.
1:55 p.m. – Sharayah Dawn Ahlman, 34, cited for no valid operator’s license, 1100 block 22nd Ave.
3:37 p.m. – Caller reported burglary in 1200 block Clark Mill Rd. One rifle and one handgun, together valued at $3,200, missing. Officer responded. Report taken for first-degree burglary, first-degree theft.
6:04 p.m. – Non-injury crash reported in Brownsville at Bishop Way/Washburn St. According to LCSO, Kathileen Davern, 66, of Brownsville, driving a Nissan Rogue, was pulling out of the 76 Station onto Hwy 228, when Johannes Melfi, 29, of Brownsville, driving a 2019 Honda Civic, was pulling into the gas station off of Hwy 228. Somehow, the two collided causing minor damage to both vehicles. At-fault driver unable to be determined.
10:14 p.m. – Demetrius Scott arrested by Albany Police on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in theft case. Cited to appear April 9.
10:46 p.m. – Gilbert Alonzo Martinez arrested on Albany Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in theft case. Cited and released. 1300 block Clark Mill Rd.
March 11
6:37 a.m. – Diana Lynn Hall, 68, arrested on multiple warrants – Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply in offensive littering case, Lebanon Municipal Court probation violation warrant and Linn County Justice Court warrant for contempt of court. Caller had reported female sitting on walker in 600 block Main St., trying to hitchhike. Cited and released and provided courtesy ride home.
7:41 a.m. – Caller reported new activity at illegal mining site on Cascade Timber Consulting land near intersection of Scott Mountain Rd./Crawfordsville Dr. People are trespassing on CTC property, digging for rocks, and damaging the area and creek banks. Investigation ongoing.
8:33 a.m. – Kacy Wayne Ainsworth, 21, of Lebanon, cited for improper left turn following crash in 28600 block Peoria Rd., Halsey.
9:32 a.m. – Caller reported alarm that had been going off for about 12 hours. Officer responded, contacted individual who found smoke detector on ground. It was turned off. 3200 block Main St.
11:02 a.m. – Caller requested welfare check on male who, caller said, possibly was being taken advantage of financially and not being cared for physically. Officer responded. Report taken. Investigation continuing. 1500 block Tamarack St.
1:58 p.m. – City Public Works Department staffer reported that stop sign in area of Oak Heights School, 6th Ave./Elm St., had been removed and there were two stop signs sitting at a nearby house. Officer responded. Juvenile admitted taking pole at location, though no sign was attached to pole. School declined to pursue charges. Juvenile counselled.
2:49 p.m. – Deputy conducted death investigation for male in his 70s, 28700 block Hwy. 228. Report taken.
March 10
8:13 a.m. – Caller reported male inside garage of vacant residence, “acting odd.” Officer responded, located male, who appeared agitated, “possibly related to mental health issues,” according to log. He was advised he was on private property and moved along. 1400 block Nandina St.
8:45 a.m. – Caller reported minor who appeared to be under influence of alcohol, Sweet Home High School, 1641 Long St. Officer responded. Male, 14, was referred to Juvenile Department and left school with his mother.
9:15 a.m. – Caller reported male came onto her porch in 1800 block Willow St., stole money from her money box. Officer responded. Report taken for third-degree theft. Approximate loss $34.
9:43 a.m. – Caller reported burglary in 40800 block Hwy. 228. Owner was out of town when burglary occurred at the location. Unknown at press time what was taken. Deputy took report. Investigation continuing.
2:06 p.m. – Corey Gladwin arrested, after turning himself in at Sweet Home Police Department, 1950 Main St., on Linn County Circuit Court warrant for probation violations in cases involving encouragement of sex abuse. Cited and released.
2:59 p.m. – Caller reported on logging road gate in 46100 block Old Hufford Rd. destroyed. Lock valued at $40. Report taken for criminal mischief.
4:50 p.m. – Caller reported male chased him with stick, threatened to kill him. Officer responded. Report taken. Investigation continuing. 1400 block Nandina St.
5:10 p.m. – Deputy located boat on fire in 26200 block High Deck Rd. This is a large property on High Deck with many people living there. Unknown who the actual owner is, but two people were working on the boat with a chainsaw, when it caught fire and burned to the ground. Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance Service personnel put the fire out, but it was a total loss. Damage value $100. Boat was only thing damaged in fire. Report taken.
9:11 p.m. – Chase Lee Davis, 33, arrested on Oregon State Parole Board warrant for parole violation, Lebanon Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear in criminal citation case. Caller had reported male at location in 3500 block Juniper St. who was refusing to leave. Davis trespassed from location, lodged in Linn County Jail.
9:13 p.m. – Kevin David Ritchie Jr., 41, of Brownsville, cited for speeding, 58/35, 900 block N. Main St., Brownsville.
10:45 p.m. – Austyn Mitchell Lee Clark arrested by Albany police on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply in criminal driving case. Cited to appear April 9.
