Police working on identifying teen tagging suspects

Sweet Home police are investigating six teens involved in tagging the parking lot at Sankey Park and vehicles on 14th and Elm streets early Wednesday morning.

Police took the first report at about 4 a.m. on May 27, but they believe that the incidents happened earlier in the morning, after midnight.

“Officers are actively investigating it,” said Police Chief Jeff Lynn. “We’re working at identifying a group believed to be of six teens that are associated with it.”

Police were able to obtain video surveillance of the individuals, Lynn said.

They were able to identify some of the teens by Friday.

“We anticipate being able to hold a number of the teens, maybe all of them, accountable,” he said.

The teens had spray painted curse words on the parking lot at Sankey park and on some of the vehicles.

Lynn said police responded to five to seven calls related to the graffiti. In at least several of the cases, the paint was easily wiped away, but Lynn was unable to confirm Friday whether that was the case with all of the vehicles.

Police haven’t posted photos of the group yet and are using other means to identify who is in the photos, Lynn said, but if they are unable to identify all of the teens, the Police Department will likely release photos with a request for public assistance.

Lynn requested that anyone with information about the graffiti to call the Police Department at (541) 367-5181.
