3:26 a.m. – Caller reported hitting and killing a dog in the road, 4200 block of Main. Officer responded and pulled the dog off the road for removal. Officer checked nearby residences but no one answered the door.
12:57 p.m. – Caller reported a damaged mailbox, 1200 block of 41st. The caller said it was an ongoing issue in the neighborhood. Officer was able to remove a piece of wood that was stuck in the caller’s lock. Caller requested extra patrol as time allows.

9:30 p.m. – Robert Lewis Hough Sr., 68, arrested for fourth-degree assault and menacing, 1196 43rd Ave. Transported to Linn County Jail. Lebanon Police had reported a male at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital who said he had been stabbed by his father. Sweet Home officers responded to the Sweet Home address, where there had been an altercation. Sweet Home officers learned that a dispute started in a trailer where they lived. At one point, the suspect allegedly picked up a knife, and the two struggled over the knife, said Police Chief Jeff Lynn. They separated, and the victim went to the hospital claiming the injuries to his hand were caused by the knife.
July 28

2:33 a.m. – Caller reported a male was stabbed by another male, 1200 12th Ave., Chewy’s. Officer responded. Report taken. Investigation continuing. The victim was not cooperative and did not wish to pursue charges. Suspect left prior to officer arrival.
5:15 a.m. – Caller reported that a vehicle went down a neighbor’s driveway then left, 1000 block of 38th. Officer checked residence, which was secure. Tire marks were in the grass. Day shift planned to follow up with the caller and homeowner.

She kept telling them not to call but engaged in their conversations. Deputy advised the caller that it is a scam and assured her that it was a scam. She said she would do better at screening her calls.

2:58 p.m. – Daniel Steven Rodriguez, 30, arrested on Linn County warrants for failure to appear on original three counts of identity theft, two counts of second-degree forgery, possession of a forged instrument, possession of meth and second-degree disorderly conduct; Clackamas County warrant for aggravated identity theft, two counts of identity theft, first-degree forgery, first-degree possession of a forged instrument, second-degree forgery, second-degree possession of a forged instrument and tampering with a witness; Lebanon warrants for failure to appear on a criminal citation, two counts of contempt of court and probation violation, Highway 20 and Fairview. Sweet Home police had received a call from a family member that the suspect was headed to the family member’s residence in Sweet Home with plans to cause a scene, Police Chief Jeff Lynn said. The caller was concerned for the caller’s safety and indicated he was coming from Lebanon area and had a sword. Officers responded and tried to make contact with Rodriguez between Fairview Road and Dixie Lane. Officers did not see a sword, but Rodriguez failed to comply with commands. He allegedly fled into the brush on the north side of the highway. Linn County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Forest Service canine unit assisted. They tracked the suspect through heavy brush and located him west of Weatherly Lane under a deck of logs about 600 yards southeast of the initial contact.
3 p.m. – Caller reported a horse trailer and abandoned truck on property for more than a year, 1100 block of Ironwood. Referred to code enforcement.
3:02 p.m. – Caller reported a car parked in a yard for more than a year, 1100 block of Ironwood.

7:31 p.m. – A single vehicle crashed into an embankment, North River and Foster Dam. All subjects in the vehicle fled on foot. Vehicle towed.
8:12 p.m. – Caller reported that someone tried to break into the caller’s residence, 1600 block of Elm. Entry wasn’t made, but it did cause damage. The caller’s crowbar was missing and may possibly have been used. Report taken.
8:24 p.m. – Caller reported the theft of a bow, range finder, bow release, arrows and a Bluetooth speaker from his camp, 45900 block of Highway 20, River Bend Campground. Report taken.
9:40 p.m. – Caller reported that a transient had a fire going near the creek, 500 block of Main. The caller asked him to put it out, and he became aggressive. Officer contacted the male, who agreed to put out the fire and leave the area. Male trespassed from the Vet’s Club property.
10:43 p.m. – Deputy reported noticing a truck and fifth-wheel trailer parked at the scale shack, 44200 block of Highway 20, on July 23. It appeared to be a motorist taking a break. On July 28, the deputy noticed the same RV with all jacks down and disconnected from the truck. Two other vehicles were with the RV. The deputy contacted the occupants of the RV. They were sleeping, and the deputy knew them to be homeless. They admitted to camping there for a full week. Deputy advised them to leave and trespassed them.

9:17 a.m. – Caller reported a large husky running loose and trying to attack her dogs, Cedar and 17th. Dog secured prior to officer arrival. A child had accidentally let the dog out of the house. Owner counseled.
