Public Safety Log Oct. 17, 2018

Editor’s Note: Due to technical difficulties related to new software at the Sweet Home Police Department, this week’s Public Safety log is incomplete for several days of the past week.

Oct. 15

7:48 a.m. – Caller reported a male going through cars and taking things, 621 Main St., Thriftway. Caller had video. Officer will contact the registered owners of the vehicles.

9:51 a.m. – Sunny Sky Stone, 46, cited for driving without insurance, 1300 block of Tamarack.

Oct. 14

9:05 a.m. – Jeremy Kirk Gross, 31, cited for driving while suspended, driving uninsured and failure to display plates, Highway 20 in the Narrows. Vehicle impounded.

9:07 a.m. – Caller reported that a male was camping at Wiley Creek Park and yelling all night long. Officer responded. The male was not there. Officer left a a card at the camp to vacate, and officer later located the male and trespassed him from the park.

10:40 a.m. – Deputies took a report for trespassing, 43000 block of Ames Creek.

10:42 a.m. – Stacy Manuel Teixeira, 53, arrested on Linn County warrant for failure to comply, 4400 block of Main. Transported to Linn County Jail.

2:43 p.m. – Caller reported a bunch of candidate signs were stolen from his yard, 400 block of Nandina.

6:53 p.m. – Caller reported that her neighbor’s dog tries to attack her every time she steps out her front door, 1800 block of Cedar. Officer warned the owner for dog at large and keeping a dog as a public nuisance.

8:13 p.m. – Garrett Wayne Caspino, 26, cited and released in field on Albany warrant for failure to appear on original charge of third-degree theft, 621 Main St., Thriftway.

9:28 p.m. – Jimmy Rodger Varner, 51, arrested on Linn County warrant for contempt of court, 2300 block of Main. Cited and released.

Oct. 13

3:11 p.m. – Caller reported a theft, 28200 block of Ridgeway.

Oct. 11

8:27 a.m. – Caller reported someone attempted to siphon fuel and damaged a car, 40200 block of Highway 228.

9:54 p.m. – Report taken for a disturbance, 40900 block of Highway 228.

Oct. 10

3:19 a.m. – Caller reported a vehicle’s door was wide open and no one was around, 3500 block of Juniper. Officer contacted the owner. Upon further investigation, the officer found that a total of three vehicles and a shop were unlawfully entered. No items were taken from the vehicles, however multiple items were stolen from the shop. Loss valued at $100. Report taken.

6:47 a.m. – Caller reported two vehicles had been entered and items stolen, 1200 block of 40th. Report taken. Loss valued at $250.

9:28 a.m. – Caller reported a male was assaulted by two other males, 49300 block of Highway 20.

Oct. 9

2:08 p.m. – Clayton Wade Stevens Mayfield, 38, arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle an carrying a concealed weapon, 1000 block of Long. Transported to Linn County Jail. Police recovered a vehicle reported stolen on Oct. 8.

3:20 a.m. – Caller reported the theft of a pickup, 28500 block of Pleasant Valley. It was found three miles away and returned to owner. A key ring with approximately five keys was taken.

9:27 p.m. – Caller reported a female, who had been asked to leave, sleeping behind the building, 1327 Long St. Female subject trespassed from the location.

11:03 a.m. – James Paul Chapin, 30, arrested on Sweet Home warrant for failure to appear on original charge of resisting arrest, Curry County.

1:48 p.m. – Officer seized two different plates from a vehicle, 2200 block of Long. A male said he just bought the car from a private party. Unknown where the proper plates for the vehicles are located.

2:06 p.m. – Harvey Michael Kapicka, 33, arrested on Linn County warrant for failure to appear on original charge of fourth-degree assault, Sweet Home Public Library. Transported to Linn County Jail.

2:39 p.m. – Caller reported his shotgun was stolen, 3100 block of Main. Report taken. Loss valued at $169.

2:52 p.m. – Caller reported that a female tried to reach into a vehicle and take a cell phone with a student in the car, 1641 Long St., Sweet Home High School. The female left on foot. Caller wanted to the female trespassed, and the student wanted the information noted.

3:23 p.m. – Caller reported receiving a suspicious package in the mail, 800 block of 14th. Drug detection dog alerted on the mail for meth. Item seized. Investigation continuing.

3:47 p.m. – Richard Lee Kintzley, 29, arrested on Lebanon warrant for contempt of court on original charge of third-degree theft and Sweet Home warrant for failure to comply on original charge of third-degree theft, 1950 Main St., Sweet Home Police Department.

4:01 p.m. – Caller reported a female stole items, 1540 Main St., Safeway. Report taken. Loss valued at $20.

4:08 p.m. – Caller reported his mailbox had been damaged, 200 block of Osage.

4:11 p.m. – Caroline Regina Pearson, 26, arrested for misdemeanor driving while suspended, attempted third-degree theft, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, 18th and Long. Cited and released.

5:18 p.m. – India Spring Hathaway, 32, arrested for third-degree theft and Linn County warrant for failure to appear on original charge of second-degree theft, 3341 Juniper St. Transported to Linn County Jail.

10:59 p.m. – Caller fell victim to a phone scam and was out $400, 200 block of 10th. Officer advised her to speak with her bank to see if she could get her money back. Officer planned to make contact with the phone number from which she received messages.

11:22 p.m. – Officer recovered a vehicle reported stolen out of Linn County, 621 Main St., Thriftway.

11:55 p.m. – Caller reported that he hit the median as he was turning from Main Street to 60th Avenue. Report taken. Vehicle towed.

Oct. 8

11:42 a.m. – Michelle Diane Tonning, 42, cited and released in field on Lebanon warrant for contempt of court on original charge of driving while suspended and probation violation, 1300 block of Nandina.

12 p.m. – Caller reported a big white dog running loose in the trailer park, 4610 Main St.

1:03 p.m. – Caller reported that a blue bicycle with a yellow bag had been at location at least one day if not several, 18th north of Tamarack. Placed in found property.

1:07 p.m. – Three juveniles, ages 14, 15 and 16, referred to Juvenile Department for minor in possession of tobacco, 1990 Long St., Skate Park.

2:37 p.m. – Caller reported the theft of TV trays, 3031 Main St., Sweet Home Gleaners. Caller would like the female subject trespassed.

4:28 p.m. – Caller reported that people were sleeping in the entrance of the old T&M building and leaving their belongings. Officer contacted a female and trespassed her from the location.

4:55 p.m. – Caller reported a wallet was dropped in the mail drop box, 1303 Long St., Sweet Home Post Office. The wallet had been reported stolen in Lebanon. Wallet returned to owner.

6:11 p.m. – Caller reported a vehicle stolen, 2200 block of Main. Report taken.

6:25 p.m. – Caller requested to talk to an officer, 621 Main St., Officer located the male who stated that people are appearing and disappearing inside his shopping cart. Officer advised the male of his options.

7:05 p.m. – Caller reported a cousin had not returned a vehicle he was supposed to return and was not responding to any messages, 39300 block of Crawfordsville Drive. Report taken.

9:33 a.m. – Caller reported a possible sex offense, Alder Street.

11:23 p.m. – Christopher Thomas Meredith, 30, cited and released in field on Linn County warrant for failure to appear on original charge of possession of meth, 4536 Main St. Caller had reported a male walking around the building trying to open doors. Officer responded and contacted a male, who said he was attempting to find an outlet he could use to plug in his phone. He denied trying to open any doors.
