Oct. 23

12:27 p.m. – Caller reported bicycle stolen from front yard during the night, 1600 block of 11th. Officer took report for third-degree theft. Bicycle valued at $50.

1:41 p.m. – Allen Joseph Hall Jr., 33, arrested for driving under the influence, west city limits on Highway 20. Cited and released.

Oct. 22

6:52 a.m. – Caller reported that two dogs got into rabbit cages and killed a rabbit. Dogs were behaving aggressively if anyone approached them, 400 block of Fourth. Officer responded and was unable to determine where dogs live. He contacted several neighbors, but they did not recognize the dogs.

11:43 a.m. – Jesse James Martin, 11, referred to Juvenile Department for minor in possession of tobacco, 1641 Long St., Sweet Home High School. Released to mother.

11:47 a.m. – Caller reported someone tried to break into Spoleto’s through the back door during the night, 4804 Main St. Officer took report for second-degree attempted burglary. Hinges were damaged but door was still secure. Damage estimated at $30.

Oct. 21

3 p.m. – Caller reported that it sounded as if two males in the neighbor’s backyard were firing a gun, 3100 block of Main. Officers contacted two juveniles setting off fireworks. Fireworks seized.

8:46 p.m. – Caller reported that his daughter just saw a cougar in the yard, 1300 block of Elm. Officer responded. Information noted.

Oct. 20

11:30 a.m. – Taylor Wellington Young, 16, referred to Juvenile Department for runaway.

11:40 a.m. – Todd Gwen McCraven, 43, cited for failure to stop for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, Main near 13th.

12:47 p.m. – Kirstin Marie Mengore, 39, arrested for driving under the influence and reckless driving and cited for driving uninsured, failure to carry proof of insurance and careless driving in a single-vehicle crash, 12th and Tamarack. No injuries. The vehicle struck a utility pole and a fire hydrant. Vehicle impounded.

3:40 p.m. – Brenden Jacob Housen, 13, referred to Juvenile Department for runaway, 1950 Main St., Sweet Home Police Department.

3:56 p.m. – Caller reported theft of a jack from his vehicle, which was parked in a carport, 700 block of Fifth.

5:45 p.m. – Caller reported that someone spray painted her garage door during the night, 900 block of 14th. Officer took report for second-degree criminal mischief. Approximate value of damage was $500.

6:53 p.m. – Gene Preston Dir, 23, arrested for violating restraining order and cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, 2405 Main St., Circle K. Transported to Linn County Jail.

10:50 p.m. – Gabriel Raymond Gunselman, 18, cited for speeding, 55-35, 200 block of Main.

Oct. 19

12:47 a.m. – Caller reported someone tore down a portion of his fence, 1530 Tamarack St., Mountain Shadows Trailer Park. Report taken for approximately $100 in damage. Likely occurred within the past half hour.

1:05 a.m. – Kayla Marie Kragness, 16, referred to Juvenile Department for curfew violation and minor in possession of tobacco, Main near Clark Mill. Released to grandmother.

2:24 p.m. – David Paul Gruwell, 45, cited for failure to obey traffic control device and failure to signal left turn, 1400 block of Nandina.

6:18 p.m. – Jared Elias Gabell, 23, turned himself in on Linn County supervisory warrant for failure to comply on original charge of third-degree assault (owes seven days in jail), 1950 Main St., Sweet Home Police Department. Transported to Linn County Jail.

Oct. 18

8:29 a.m. – Chance Wade Smith, 14, taken into custody for possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, 1641 Long St., Sweet Home High School. Released to parent.

9:23 a.m. – Caller reported shoplifter on video, 3041 Main St., Hoy’s True Value. Officer took report for third-degree theft for a stolen tile saw blade valued at $13.99. Video seized.

Oct. 17

7:08 a.m. – Caller reported following a vehicle the night before near Fifth and Elm; and just prior to an officer stopping the vehicle, someone threw out a large bag of marijuana. Officer seized marijuana. Investigation continuing.

10:22 a.m. – Shane Nathan Elder, 30, cited for no peddler’s license, 1100 block of 29th.

5:26 p.m. – Caller located some vials with an unknown liquid in them near the Wiley Creek boat ramp. Officer responded and seized items for destruction.

6:12 p.m. – Aaron Scott Brian Voelsch, 12, referred to Juvenile Department for minor in possession of tobacco and third-degree theft, 2405 Main St., Circle K. Pack of gum, valued at $1.59, allegedly stolen. Released to mother.

6:54 p.m. – Thomas Earl Goble, 16, referred to Juvenile Department for minor in possession of tobacco, 1950 Main St., Sweet Home Police Department. Caller reported she found cigarettes in her son’s closet.

9:18 p.m. – Caller reported theft of son’s bicycle, 2200 block of Long. Officer took report for second-degree theft. Bicycle valued at $350.

Oct. 16

2:12 p.m. – Tannar James Pyke, 51, cited for dangerous left turn, 800 block of 14th.

4:35 p.m. – Katherine Rachel Allen, 25, cited for speeding, 67-45, 3200 block of Main.

4:49 p.m. – Thomas Franklin Clark, 23, cited for speeding, 63-45, 6000 block of Main.

6:08 p.m. – Caller reported items stolen during an estate sale, 53rd and Main. Report taken for second-degree theft. Items valued at $900.

6:55 p.m. – Zachary Pearson, 38, signed citizen’s citation for unlawful lane change near 18th and Main against Lloyd David Leininger, 18.

8:12 p.m. – Lance Morgan Hawken, 40, arrested for misdemeanor driving while suspended, west city limits. Cited and released.

11:34 p.m. – Stephanie Ann Ballard, 45, cited for driving uninsured and failure to carry proof of insurance, Juniper near 27th.
