March 27

12:41 p.m. – Trespass reported in the 45600 block of Sunnyside Road. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the property was left vacant when the occupant died. The owner’s daughters were left to care for the property but lived out of the area, and the location has been vacant for two years. Sometime in 2021, an unrelated person – not the owner or daughter – started to rent the home out to a family. Sheriff’s deputies have determined the family renting the property has been the victim of a rental fraud, paying money for rent and repairs to someone with no rights to the property. A deputy is looking for the suspect, local to the Sweet Home area. The family will leave the property, and the proper owners are going through the eviction process, legally, just in case, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Report taken.

2:46 p.m. – William Wallace Johnson, 51, of Sweet Home, was cited and released for hit-and-run property damage in the 1000 block North of River Drive. He was also cited for driving without privileges. Report taken.

5:45 p.m. – A citizen requested an extra patrol in the 27800 block of Fern Ridge Road following trespass and theft incidents at a residence under construction.

March 28

3:11 a.m. – Trapper James Brown, 28, of Sweet Home, was cited for speeding, 66/45, Hwy. 228/Upper Calapooia Drive.  

March 29

9:10 a.m. – Sheriff’s Office recovered a stolen side-by-side vehicle in the 27400 block of Scott Mountain Road, on Cascade Timber Consulting property. A green 2009 Polaris EzGo side-by-side was reported stolen March 17 to Lane County law enforcement. Located while deputies were investigating a separate case and came upon the vehicle stuck in the creek bed. Under investigation. Report taken.

10:26 a.m. – Samantha Stotz, 30, of Sweet Home, was cited on warrant following a report of a suspicious person in the 43700 block of North River Drive. Report taken.  

11:25 a.m. – Samantha Leean Stotz, 30, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply on an original charge of third-degree theft, Albany Police Department.

11:45 a.m. – Kaitlyn Carpenter, 23, of Sweet Home, arrested on warrant, Hwy. 20/Quartzville Rd. Report taken.

1:18 p.m. – Gabrielle Kait Bern-hardt, 26, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply on an original charge of third-degree theft, Corvallis Police Department.

1:35 p.m. – Custin J. Jones, 21, was arrested for third-degree assault, riot and second-degree disorderly conduct, Lebanon area.

2:25 p.m. – Theft/fraud investigation in the 42000 block of North River Drive. A caller reported a wallet stolen from the glove compartment of his vehicle while it was parked and he was kayaking. Banking cards were frozen after he noticed unauthorized charges on them. Report taken.  

3:23 p.m. – Custin J. Jones, 21, was arrested on a Lebanon Municipal Court warrant for first-degree criminal trespass, Lebanon area.

4:22 p.m. – Joshua Wayne Welch, 33, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply on an original charge of giving false information to a police officer, Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

11:21 p.m. – Callers reported a motor vehicle crash at Main St. and Holley Road. Nicholaus Matthew Mariano was cited for careless driving.

March 30

4:53 a.m. – Scott Allison, 32, of Sweet Home, was cited for speeding, 88/55. 35100 block of Hwy. 34.

11:44 a.m. – Deputy checked Shea Point and Calkins Boat Ramp for illegal metal detecting, resource collection. No one was found. 5600 block Hwy. 20.  

3:39 p.m. – Caller reported a trespassing male harassing him and others, 1200 block of Long St. Korey Lyn Hugley, 40, was cited and released for harassment.

3:50 p.m. – Deputy located an abandoned campsite near milepost 19.5, 44700 block of Quartzville Road, with garbage left behind. The site was occupied by two transient females, who had been advised previously to vacate. Investigation continuing.  

7:21 p.m. – A non-injury, single-vehicle rollover was reported in the area of Hwy. 20/Quartzville Road. According to the Sheriff’s Office, operator Taylor Marie Goodwin, 19, of Sweet Home was turning and while doing so, her 2000 black Toyota Tacoma lost traction and struck a tree, causing the vehicle to roll . No injury and no other occupants. Vehicle towed by owner. Report taken.  

7:23 p.m. – Cassandra Rose Banta, 18, was cited and released on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of third-degree theft, 1950 Main St. Sweet Home Police Department.

March 31 

12 p.m. – Caller reported that her horse was being listed for sale “all over the internet.” She does not have horses for sale. She was upset that pictures containing her daughter with the horses are being posted in the ads for the horses for sale. There is no knowledge of anyone being out of money, but the caller wanted the Sheriff’s Office to see that the ads were shut down. The caller was told to report to her Facebook friends and others to “blast” the posts, that they are scams, amnd to report them the proper way on those media sites. 28900 block of Berlin Road.  

1:15 p.m. – Dakota Seward, 21, was arrested for first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree sodomy, Sweet Home Police Department.

2:04 p.m. – Albert Wilson, 18, was arrested for first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, first-degree unlawful penetration and first-degree sexual abuse, Sweet Home Police Department.

3:08 p.m. – Caller reported a male at the Sweet Home Public Library. Albert Wilson, 18, was cited and released for second-degree criminal trespass. Cited and released on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrants for failure to appear on an original charge of first-degree criminal trespass X2 and failure to appear on an original charge of second-degree criminal trespass X2, 1641 Long St.

7:58 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the 42200 block of McDowell Creek Drive. The caller reported that a black BMW was going house-to-house, “looking for gas.” Extra patrol requested.

10:22 p.m. – Shannon Richards, 48, of Sweet Home, was cited and released on Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant, Hwy. 20/57th Ave. Report taken.  

10:26 p.m. – Shannon Marie Richards, 48, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to comply on an original charge of third-degree theft, Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

10:56 p.m. – Gregory Allen Tibbs, 54, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of third-degree theft, Albany Police Department.

10:58 p.m. – Kaitlyn Kuzma, 19, of Scio, was cited for speeding, 87/55, Hwy. 20/Fairview Road.  

April 1

10:49 a.m. – Deputy came upon a man who had struck a boulder with his vehicle at Calkins Boat Ramp. Front bumper and tire were damaged on the vehicle, but no injuries were reported, nor was there any damage to the boat ramp.

12:36 p.m. – Vincent Holt Jr., 51, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of second-degree disorderly conduct, Lebanon.

April 2

10:02 a.m. – Sheriff’s Office reported an increase in littering, graffiti at a gravel pit, 43400 block of Marks Ridge Drive. Nighttime patrols to increase. 

2:19 p.m. – Amber Williams, 30, was cited for failure to obey traffic control device, 4301 Citabria St.

2:51 p.m. – Ryder James Brooks, 26, of Lebanon, was cited for speeding, 82/55, 30300 block of Santiam Hwy.

3:11 p.m. – Justin Bly, 22, and Ejay Nelson Kumar, 24, were cited and released for third-degree theft, 40800 block of Hwy. 228.

5:13 p.m. – A hazard vehicle was towed from the 44300 block of Whiskey Butte Drive. The vehicle, a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer, was on the shoulder of the roadway, but parked a few feet into the lane of travel, creating the traffic hazard and authority to tow. Report taken.

7:23 p.m. – Dumping complaint near Foster Lake, 2400 block of Foster Dam Road. Trash and beer bottles and “such” were dumped at the location. The caller talked about cleaning it up, which appeared to be the case, as the deputy did not locate the items reported to have been dumped. 

5:44 p.m. – Ember Ann McAlpin, 38, was arrested on a Sweet Home Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of second-degree theft, Lebanon Police Department.

April 3

7:35 a.m. – James Andrew Linder, 33, was arrested on an Albany Municipal Court cite-and-release warrant for second-degree theft, 2400 block of Main St.

4:12 p.m. – Caller reported a male in a silver Honda Odyssey unable to maintain lane, who appeared to be dozing off, and when he arrived at his location he hit a wheelchair, 5050 block of Mountain Fir St. Thomas Allen Tackett, 66, was cited and released for driving under the influence of intoxicants.

5:59 p.m. – A 10-year-old boy who was mad at his dad hid on property, came out of hiding after dark. 45800 block of Sunnyside Road. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the boy had a disagreement with father and took off. Family searched for the child for just over an hour before calling LCSO. Deputies and K9s searched the area and SAR was called, but had not responded when the child was located on the property and reunited with family.
