Travis Ramoz, the only Sweet Home player to qualify for this year’s 4A state golf tournament at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks, finished 69th in the 88-player field Tuesday, May 19.
Ramoz followed his opening-day 89 with a 90 on the second day to finish with a 179, 35 strokes over par.
David Engle of Phoenix was the tournament winner, shooting 5-under-par 67s on both days to finish with a 134, 12 strokes ahead of Garrett Wisbaum of La Salle, who was second.
Ross Martin of Newport was the top finisher from the Val-Co League, shooting 74-74-148 to tie for third with two other players.
Brookings-Harbor won the team title with a two-day total of 311-314-626, followed by La Salle (631), Marist (632), Phoenix (635) and Newport (639). Taft, the other Val-Co team in the tournament, finished 13th in the 14-team field with 713.
