Raymond Lloyd Ewing, 86 of Sweet Home passed away of cancer at his home Wednesday surrounded by his family. He was born in Klamath Falls to Frank and Wilma (Latta) Ewing.
He was raised in the Quartzville and Sweet Home areas. He graduated from Sweet Home High School. He was in the Army Air Force during World War II.
Raymond married Virginia Forquer in 1951. They just celebrated their 62nd anniversary.
He worked as a logger for many years and then farmed. They grew beans and strawberries for the cannery for eight years, then turned their farm into a U-Pick farm where he enjoyed all the people that came out for their fruits and vegetables.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and cooking. They spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona.
Raymond is survived by his wife Virginia of Sweet Home; son Jim and his wife Donna Ewing of Sweet Home; daughters: Marlene and her husband Lee White, Mary Jo and her husband Joe Williams all of Sweet Home; Tobi and her husband Chris Hazlewood of Yuma, Arizona; brother Frank Ewing of Bellingham, Washington; sister Evelyn Walker of Sweet Home; grandchildren Corina Seamons, Summer McDonald, Kristal Carroll, Justin Hennick, Holly Grise, Gabe Hazlewood, Deja Lehto, Blake Raudy, Cami Wake, C.J. Williams, Kelsi Snider, Kay Cee Raudy, Angel Ewing and Dakota Ewing; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Wilma Ewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made in his name to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
Celebration of Life will be 2 – 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at his home.
