Reader likes the opinions

Editor:

I am very impressed with the opinions of the editors and guest writers in the Sept. 13 paper. They are very clear on their subjects.

I have to say that I was a little shocked at the nudity of the mountain that overlooks our city. But, it was explained in a very pragmatic way.

The trees will be green again on that mount. Meanwhile, it seems that the other side of the mountain would have been just as easy to log. We have so many trees that could be logged. It would be nice to keep the little area that we see and appreciate as an attribute to our city.

So, I see it both ways.

I also agree with Sean Morgan on the idea of an Armageddon. This has been prophesied over the centuries. Think how awful the Crusades were. People must surely have thought that it was the end of the world at that time. In fact, it’s a wonder we were able to continue to exist with all of that slaughtering going on.

And World War I and World War II. Our soldiers of that time and Poland, Russia and all the Jews who were slaughtered must have thought, then, that it was the end of the world.

So, as Mr. Morgan points out, humans have been killing each other since the beginning of humans. This is no different. It is just that now it is us and ours that are involved.

Rich Lowry has it right on about the Middle East. Their opinion of being free is entirely different than ours. We need to know that. Our President and staff need to know that.

With the Muslim faith being embraced by more and more American women in this country, it seems that a lot of women want to be controlled by men.

Many men see that as a good thing and the women, too. To me, that makes the women not free. But, to them, it is perfect in their minds. So “freedom” is a subjective word, as it turns out.

Thanks for having a fair and thoughtful paper.
