Redwood Street home severely damaged by fire

A firefighter shoots water into a burning garage at 1133 Redwood St. Monday night. The blaze was reported to Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District at 7:32 p.m. and firefighters found the building engulfed in flames upon arrival.

The two-story house and garage on the property were not occupied at the time, though a renter, Michelle Ray, told officials that she had belongings in the building, which is owned by David Jewett, according to SHFAD reports.

A total of 33 firefighters and five engines from Sweet Home and Lebanon responded to the blaze, which caused an estimated $180,000 damage to the house and its contents. Officials said an investigation into the cause continued Tuesday.
