Sept. 23, 1939 – April 10, 2019
Rees Gordon of Lebanon passed away on April 10, 2019 due to complications from pulmonary fibrosis. He was 79 years old.
Rees was born in New Castle, Ind. to Wilson Gordon and Ada Mae (McDonald) on Sept. 23, 1939. He was the youngest of nine children and the last to pass away. His dad was a sharecropper and died when Rees was 9 months old. He remembered his mom as always working to make ends meet.
After graduating high school, Rees spent one term in the Marines. He then became an accountant, working for the oil industry in both California and Texas.
After retirement he moved to Flagstaff, Ariz. and, finally, Lebanon.
He enjoyed the arts, learning about history, researching his ancestry and rarely missed watching a college football game. However, his real passion in life was photography. Black and white remained his favorite medium.
Rees was married twice and had three daughters, Donna Gardner of California, Deborah Rehart of Oregon and Megan Duckworth of Texas. He is also survived by eight grandsons: Jim, Alex, Justin, Kyle, Nathan, Joshua, Ethan and Benjamin.
