Linn County Sheriff’s Office responded to a death investigation near Sheep Creek the morning of Aug. 4, Under sheriff Jim Yon said.

“A forest service worker found the individual in his vehicle near a gate,” Yon said.

Denis Zuhlke, 65, of Millersburg, died of natural causes.

Zuhlke was a retired LCSO deputy.

The majority of Zuhlke’s 18-year career with LCSO was in the patrol division, said Sheriff Bruce Riley.

He did quite a bit of timber patrol, Riley added.

When he retired in 2013, Zuhlke “went to work for Cascade Timber and was doing private security for those folks,” Riley said.
