Rice Logging finishes perfect season with title

The Rice Logging fifth- and sixth-grade basketball team won its league championship at home on Feb. 5 in a 42-41 nailbiter against the Suite 101 Salon team from Philomath, to complete an undefeated season.

“There were probably 10 or 11 lead chances throughout the game,” said Coach John Snyder. “Levi Nielsen was an absolute monster and scored over 20 points.”

Casey Tow hit a giant three-pointer with 1:30 left in the game to put the Huskies ahead by three.

“The kids played smothering defense, and with three seconds left, Nielsen tied the ball up and gave us the last possession,” Snyder said. “We ran an inbound play and ran out the clock.”

Snyder gave special thanks to the team’s sponsor, Rice Logging, and thanked the parents and fans for an amazing season.
