Richard Kyriss

April 5, 1943 – Dec. 22, 2006

Dick G. Kyriss, 63, of Albany, died at his home on Dec. 22, 2006.

Mr. Kyriss was born April 5, 1943 in Oregon City, the son of William and Nina (Horn) Kyriss. He graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1961, where he was very involved with sports.

He married Elma Jean Lovely in 1962. They had two sons and later divorced. In 1975 he married Wilma Weston in Reno, Nev. and they resided in Albany. She preceded him in death on Feb. 7, 1997.

Mr. Kyriss worked as an inspector for Wah Chang until he retired in 2000. He raced horses for 20 years and was an avid collector of guns and western memorabilia.

He enjoyed hunting, golfing, and watching sports of all levels, from his grandchildrens football games to college and pro. He was a lifelong member of the Elks lodge and a past United Steel Workers Union president.

He is survived by his sons, Brad Kyriss of Tigard and Jeff Kyriss of Manzanita; step-sons, Brad and Brian Barclay, both of Albany; brothers, Ken Kyriss of Albany and Steve Kyriss of Lewiston, Idaho; sister, Cris Branson of Sweet Home; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Dec. 30 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with private burial at Lewis Cemetery in Sweet Home.
