Richard Scott Shuffleton, 71, of Sweet Home, formerly of California, died Jan. 22, 2015.
He was born June 12, 1943 in Oakland, Calif. to Tracy Nordyke and Margaret M. (Stillwell) Shuffleton.
He served as an electronics technician on the U.S.S. Coral Sea in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965. He received a Cold War Certificate of Recognition for his years of service.
Mr. Shuffleton married Judy Ann Moore in Reno, Nev. in 1986.
They lived in California until 2001, when they moved to Ruidos, N.M., then relocated to Oregon in 2006. They settled first in Sodaville and then Sweet Home.
Mr. Shuffleton worked for Chevron; Folsom Prison; the Anderson, Calif. Police Department; and was postmaster for Philo,
Calif., from 1990 until 2001, when he retired. He loved woodworking (walking sticks), gardening (rock gardens) and rebuilding his 1969 Beetle.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; sons Bryan and daughter-in-law Leah Shuffleton, and Michael and daughter-in-law Misty Shuffleton; a sister, Laurie and brother-in-law Ken Androes; and one granddaughter.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
