Richard L. Stark, 76, died April 23, 2011 in Livermore, Calif.
He was born Jan. 7, 1935 in Clarke County, Iowa, the son of Charles F. “Bob” and Edith M. Stark.
In the 1930s the family moved to Oregon and settled in Sweet Home. Mr. Stark graduated from Sweet Home Union High School in 1953 and continued his education at Oregon Technical Institute in Klamath Falls. While there he met and married Ruth Salor. Following graduation, he accepted a position with Lawrence Radiation Laboratory and they moved to Livermore, Calif.
He retired from Lawrence Radiation Laboratory several years ago and Ruth Stark died in 2008. They loved traveling with their motorcycle or their car and camp trailer and with their children they toured much of the United States.
In December 2010 Mr. Stark married JoAnn Byrne-Laird of Livermore.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn; three children, Susan and son-in-law Ken St. John of Brandon, Miss., Douglas and daughter-in-law Toni, and Wesley Stark of Livermore, Calif.; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Lorraine M. Wright of Sweet Home and Donna A. Francis of Salem; and cousins Wayne Miller and Jeannie Miner of Sweet Home.
