Tiffany Martin

Student Intern

Hello everyone!

My name is Tiffany Martin. I am a junior at the Sweet Home High School. Today is my first day at my very first job. I am working at The New Era. I have never worked before and to say that I am excited would be an understatement. While I’m here I will be learning about The New Era and what goes on to make it happen. I will also be learning a lot of things from Alex Paul and Sean Morgan. I am hoping to help do some articles about the high school.

I ended up getting this job through co-op at my school. When the second trimester started, I didn’t even have a job and I didn’t really have time to change my classes around. Besides, I needed a job, some sense of responsibility. So I came to Alex Paul, asking for some help. We had a meeting about what I would be doing around The New Era and so here I am.

I was a little nervous when I came in, and I still am as I’m sitting here typing this. Although, I am so happy to have been given such a great opportunity. I love writing, and I hope some day to become a journalist. My goal being here is to learn as much as I can and to benefit from my surroundings in every way possible.

I live in a house with seven other people. My mom and dad, four brothers, and my grandmother. My oldest brothers, Rob and Brandon, are well known in this town for their great athletic abilities. I don’t think that there is anything that they can’t do. I look up to both of them in so many ways. Rob helps me to laugh and loosen up when I’m feeling down. He has a positive outlook on life and I secretly admire him for that. Brandon has taught me to better myself by learning from my mistakes and to try not to make the same mistakes again. I turn to him for almost everything.

My little brothers, Blake and Keenan are in the fifth grade. They also play sports. They played football this year and Keenan is wrestling. I am happy to see them doing sports. I can picture them being great athletes once they reach high school. They are already doing really well. All of my brothers make me proud to say that I am their sister and I wouldn’t trade them for anything. Now, don’t get me wrong, we all end up fighting sometimes, but not for very long. I can’t stay mad at them, especially when it is the people that I love the most.

I have been blessed growing up with wonderful parents that have been there for me through everything. I don’t think I could ever lose their love, not even if purposely tried. Things got rough for a while when I decided to pull the nasty teenager routine. I thought I was never going to get over it, but my parents helped me pull throughand now I feel closer to them than ever. Their names are Mitch and Lisa.

I can’t forget my grandma. Her name is Virginia. Surprisingly, she keeps our family constantly entertained with her wit and crazy remarks. We all love her so much, and her off-the-wall remarks are part of what keeps me coming home everyday. It is definitely entertaining.

As for myself, I love writing. I also like to sing in my spare time. I am actually going to be singing at Mr. Husky at the high school on the 28th of this month. My brother Rob is also participating. It should be lots of fun, except I do tend to get nervous on stage sometimes, so hopefully all will go well.
