Robert O. Christley, 81, died Feb. 23, 2006.
He was born in Ellwood City, Pa., to Samuel and Jessie (Brant) Christley. After graduation from high school, he joined the Army in June 1943 and served in World War II , where he received the Victory Medal, Good Conduct and European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five Bronze Stars, along with Meritorious Service Unit Plaque.
Mr. Christley married Theresa on June 10, 1946 at Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Ellwood City, Pa. Shortly after marriage, they moved to Fontana, Calif. They had four children: Robert G., Linda, Clarice, and Laurie.
Mr. Christley retired from Kaizer Steele in 1983 and the Christleys moved to Sweet Home to be close to children and grandchildren. He was a quiet, loving, caring, and kind man.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Christley; daughters, Linda Blanchard and Laurie Hunter; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
His son Robert G. Christley and daughter Clarice E. Flader preceded him in death.
A graveside service was held Feb. 27 at Gilliland Cemetery. Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
