Robert “Bob” E. Morris, 81, of Sweet Home died Aug. 10, 2008.
He was born Dec. 25, 1926 in Coquille, but was raised and educated in Lebanon.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He married the former Mary Grimes in Corvallis and they raised their family in Sweet Home. Mr. Morris worked as a commercial fisherman, mill worker and drove truck for the mills.
He married Betty Donovan on May 18, 1975 and helped raise her children as his own.
Fishing, hunting and fixing things were among his favorite hobbies.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; sons (and daughters-in-law), David (Judy) Morris of Belle Fourche, S.D., Bob Morris of Sweet Home, Dan (Loretta) Donovan of Coos Bay, and Bruce (Linda) Donovan of Lake Stevens, Wash.; daughters (and sons-in-law), Susan (Bud) Steagall, Debbie (Jack) Ottree and Laurie (Leonard) Deffenbaugh, all of Sweet Home, Debra (Rich) Creasey of Gold Hill, Cheryl Donovan of LaPine, Theresa (John ) Kallio and Amber Morris of Bend; sister Frances Stock of Sweet Home; brother Richard Morris of Junction City; 45 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary; sons Johnny Morris and Keith Donovan; sisters Winnefred Robertson and Burnita Elliott; brothers Bud, Earl, Bill and Dean Morris; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 14 at Riverside Christian Church, with committal services at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home.
