Robert L. Wolfer, 75, of Lebanon died Dec. 31, 2005.
He was born April 12, 1930 in Portland, the son of Harvey and Gladys (Lawrence) Parrott. After his mother died, he lived with his grandmother in Portland for several years. In 1941, he moved to Sweet Home and Cliff and Mildred Wolfer raised him.
Mr. Wolfer graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1948. He began working as a butcher at Central Super in Sweet Home during high school and continued this work for several years. Mr. Wolfer attended Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham where he studied Mortuary Science. He graduated with an associated degree in Mortuary Science in 1971. He worked as a funeral director and was the owner-operator of the Jost Funeral Home in Lebanon until retiring in 1991.
He was married to Winona Stutzman in Sweet Home on July 30, 1949.
Mr. Wolfer was baptized at the Portland Mission. He was a past member of the Optimist Club in Lebanon and a member of the Gideons. He enjoyed traveling with his wife. He was known for his good sense of humor and had a pocketful of jokes to share with friends.
He is survived by: his wife, Winona, of Lebanon; foster father Cliff Wolfer of Sweet Home; sons Dan Wolfer of Lebanon and Ed Wolfer of Sweet Home; brothers Tom Mishler of Sheridan and Rod Wolfer of Sweet Home; sisters Joan Allen of California and Arlis Rose of South Beach; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, foster mother, and a brother, Harvey.
